I didn't do much chasing up besides the fact that
Slim::UTils::Scanner::Remote had parsed the stream type as ogf which
seems to be implemented in a few places within LMS but I never followed
up why ogf streams don't play.

LMS runs pretty well on my Netgear readynas 516.
I just upgraded to a 7.9.2 nightly the other day.
It uses one of the LMS debian packages along with a readynas add-in
available from a readynas forum user.
The add-on has not been updated for a while, but seems to work ok with
the new releases.
Another option could be a Synology NAS.
Myself, I replaced my Netgear Ultra 2 with a Synology DS716+II a couple
of years ago, and have only been happy with that choice. It even looks
like the Netgear (and equally fits in my CD-rack;-)). I use the
nightly-based LMS builds for Synology by Pinkdot.
I would say, take a pi for LMS and store the flac files on a new nas.
*SqueezeBoxes:* 2x SB2 (Living room and study), 1x Radio (Kitchen), 1x
Boom (Dining room), 1x piCorePlayer (jacuzzi), 1x piCorePlayer (Garden)
1x OSMC + Squeezelite (Movie room), 1x Touch (Bedroom)
*Server:* LMS on Pi3
My Readynas Ultra 2 dedicated squeezebox server appears to have given up
the ghost and I need to migrate to something else. Whilst I have a PC
running constantly which could do it the Readynas was so good at
delivering FLAC files around the place I am wondering what people would
recommend? Is
I think a modified versionof Peter Watkins Sleepfade plugin is what you
want (i.e. fade in and not fade out) but Peter's repo has not been
available for a good while. IIRC Ralphy took backups of some of Peterw's
plugins.
