Cheers, Glad you got it sorted. Do you think we should mention the version number thing to Dan? I think it's been stuck at that for quite a while. Craig -- Craig ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com

RE: [slim] Why is loading large playlists so brutally slow?

2005-05-16 Thread Craig, James (IT)
Both browsing folders and playlists do not use the database, so are slow. There's a bug for the playlists issue, the folders I doubt anything can be done. http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1459 James NOTICE: If received in

Adrian, The 05/15 windows build still shows the same version number but the scrolling seems ok. However the server will not start with Musicinfo installed. I'm not sure if that's something you've done but I've definately not updated it since Michael released V1.72 Craig -- Craig

Hi Adrian, It's SlimServer Version: 6.1.0 - 2781 Probably the 05/12 build but I've been seeing it for a week or so now. I've got 2 SB1Gs but I've just tried it on Softsqueeze and its just the same Craig -- Craig ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss

Ok, I'll try the 05/15 build when it comes up. How does your r3179 number relate to the SlimServer Version: 6.1.0 - 2781 I see on the Server Settings page? Craig -- Craig ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http

Steven, Do you have a populated client playlist displayed when you open the interface? My experience (Windows/Firefox) is that this is validated against the database before display. Subsequent re-opening of the interface or the initial one with an empty playlist are much faster James

Hmm thought so. I believe that playlists are not yet stored in the database and I am hoping when they are this will no longer happen... http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1459 James NOTICE: If received in error, please destroy

RE: [slim] Re: Slimserver resource hog?

2005-05-10 Thread Craig, James (IT)
I'm not on SP2 but SlimServer 6 uses about 70Mb memory on my machine. CPU usage is around 5% or less on a 2Ghz P4 unless scanning iTunes when it's anything up to 100% usage. I have over 9,000 tracks in my library and some very large playlists. James -Original Message- From: [EMAIL

2005-05-09 Thread Craig, James (IT)
If it really is this system intensive it might be nice to be able to schedule it to run in the middle of the night rather than on an interval. You can; Set the iTunes rescan interval to 0 and use the 'rescan' plugin to set a scheduled time. James

Allen, Did I miss an explanation of what your problems were? I am running a week (or maybe 2) old version of 6.1 on XP and almost all of my iTunes problems are solved. (the only one outstanding being the CPU usage when scanning very large playlists) James

You can just run slim.exe (in the 'server' subdirectory) from the command line or scheduler etc. I have a shortcut in my startup folder or one can use a tool such as firedaemon or cmdow. James NOTICE: If received in error, please
