I am sorry but you are wrong... ...ugly, slow and not straight forward... ...all major websites offering support, do not use mailing list support systems... ...If you cannot see the lucidly clear advantaged... ...vbulitin... ...you are clearly beyond any ability to form an intelligent opinion.

So I know that Michael Herger is running on SME 6.0 - so that shouldn't be an issue for you. I've personally seen failures with RedHat 7.1 and 7.2 systems. Okay, you've just made me a very happy boy. Thank you! ___ Discuss mailing list

Yes, you're right but I don't want to have all the mail in my private mailbox where it would drown my other, more important, mail. I have a filter that runs on newly-received mail and throws any containing [slim] into a separate folder. I am curious if there is something about your setup that

SlimServer 6 does not work on RedHat 7.x - as RedHat has a broken perl there. Ouch. Sorry to hear that, as the machine I have running 5.4.1 uses a server solution based around 7.3. I guess I won't be buying a Squeezebox2. ___ Discuss mailing list

Were you transcoding FLAC to uncompressed PCM? Oh. Ah. Er. Ahem. Well, now I have to go home and try that, don't I? Sorry. Okay, I went home and tried it -- installed flac for RedHat 7.3 (and libogg to match), unchecked flac-mp3 encoding (leaving flac-pcm checked) and looped a 44100 stereo

RE: [slim] Why is the SB case so underwhwelming designwise?

Many users have requested some basic hard buttons on the unit for things like the arrow keys (browsing) power, volume, mute. Or buy an extra remote and glue it in place? Is there geekport documentation so that I could, perhaps, stuff the SB internals in an old CD component case, and map

Think of it like this. This (the SD operated mailing list) is a pretty good place to put up a WTS notice for an SB1. In a way, this is helping with the resale. Indeed. If/when you post your SB for sale on eBay, please let the list know and perhaps provide a URL -- I have no -need- for

Can anyone recommend some good options, that are available in the UK? I have a Nakamichi Soundspace 1 executive stereo system; it has a small form factor (also hangable from the wall), plays CDs and radio, and of course has the mini plug AUX input necessary to plug your SB in. It's not a

So, probably a few things to do here: #1: someone should set up a web page (linked from SlimDevices.com, so it hits the search engines quickly) that talks about this product by name and how it is based on SlimServer, which is freely available. Hopefully some of the consumers that are considering

Incidentally, I just emailed the folks at LinuxDevices suggesting that they would be doing their readers a service by noting that the MP3Beamer software appears to be based on SlimServer, a GPLd project available for free (after validating it with the MP3Tunes people, of course). :)
