I have the same setup on a x86 box, and everything is OK, so I think it
may have something to do with th AMD 64 chipset.

The CPU is an AMD64. I thought that Oggs used to play, and I lost the
ability to play them, but I'm not 100%

I do not have the ability to play any of my .ogg files. They just sound
staticy. I'm sure I'm missing something, but don't know what.
MP3s play great.
Installed on a Gentoo Linux box
