Yay :-)
Culprit found. I have PowerDVD 12 installed. It installed a process
called DMR engine (some DLNA server, or rather receiver). With this
disabled all works like a charm :-)

I can't get squeezeplay on Windows 8 to work. It won't connect to my
server, both on the same htpc and on my windows 7 laptop. If i run
squeezeplay on my laptop it connects to both servers just fine. My
squeezebox radio also connects to the servers just fine. Windows 8 pro
with media center x64
