Not only that, but you also have to be sure that you are listening to
the same mastering/mix. Very often that is not the case and than you are
comparing apples & oranges, or from another perspective: in that case
you simply don't know what might be

Agreed! Although I am running LMS for years now on a customized barebone
PC with Linux, the most straightforward way of running it these days is
indeed piCorePlayer however.
A self installed, customized system is IMO a

I guess you mean a SB Transporter here? Did it work without glitches
with older versions of LMS?

I am confused now. Imho transcoding within LMS from lossy to lossy is
only suitable for specific use

I am only talking about lossy. For lossless FLAC is a no-brainer, as the
OP mentions as well. The 'http capable client' question needs some
clarification by the OP.

My choice for lossy would be Opus as well. Personally I don't use it
BTW, because of the lack of prober gapless playback, in that department
Ogg/Vorbis is still hard to beat. However: looking into the future Opus
is for lossy the way to go IMHO.

I agree completely with the other two replies, it is indeed virtually
impossible to upgrade such a setup sound quality wise.
My advice: keep using it until something breaks!

No, I'm not logged

I don't think you can draw conclusions based upon these download stats.
I am using Squeezelite for years now via piCoreplayer and Squeezelite-X,
but until recently never downloaded Squeezelite directly. I think this
is the same for the vast majority of Squeezelite users.

This looks familiar to me:

My .db files were not that big, recently I tried a full rescan after
removal all of them, but it still didn't work.
My workaround is to choose "Looking for new and changed media files"

What a pity! Squeeze Commander -after all these years- was one of the
better Remote Control apps out there and my wife and I are still using
it daily.
I am not a fan of side loading Apps on mobile

Apparently so; but as long as you haven't restarted LMS, the plugin is
not in the list. This is confusing.

See the screenshot below with my plugin list before restarting and
In my experience the Spotty plugin disappears when a new version is
released and the auto installation feature of LMS picks it up.
In the meantime the old plugin version is still working fine btw.
After a manual restart of LMS the plugin (new version) is back in the
list and running. I am

During the migration to the Spotty plugin, I took the opportunity to do
some housekeeping on all the installed plugins on my LMS instance.
I stumbled upon Ickstream, but as far as I can see the last activity
around Ickstream was more than two years ago.
Their official website is still available,

I dropped by this thread and also read the announcement on the Spotify
website that Libspotify will finally be phased out somewhere this year.
This is worrying news for the majority of the Squeezebox users I think.
So what surprises me is that apparently not many people seem concerned.
Or is it

I upgraded to 7.7.3 via the repo a few weeks ago, so this already is in
place. What goes wrong in your case?
