I'm jut setting up alarms for the morning and would like to switch on at
8am to play BBC Radio 1. Is it possible to play radio or is it tunes on
the PC only?

If you can successfully play BBC 1 on your squeezebox, you can play it
for your alarm. Just save BBC 1 as a playlist, then select that
playlist as the one to play for your alarm. Easy peasy.
