Hi,
is there a remote controller thta would have the same core functins as
the original SB3 remote? One which would work for set up (left arrow,
brightness ...)? I'm not talking customized .map and .ir files, but
remote that works before SC or SN are encountered.

Most programmable learning remotes can do this, as can the Harmony remotes. I
use a HTM (Home Theater Master) MX-500 in my den which I have programmed with
all the slim devices remote functions.
I also have a Harmony remote (I forget the model) in the living room that will
run the SB2 there.
Any remote that can behave like a JVC DVD player will work. This is what
was used before SlimDevices developed their own custom remote.

I guess at sometime in the future after the SBC is released, someone
will write the functionality of the SB3 controller to the SBC, as the
SBC has an IR Emitter built-in.

I don't see why you would need IR to control a SB3 from the SBC. You

can just use the normal SBC control mode. All the beta testing for the
SBC was done using SB3s and Transporters.
I guess maybe it would be handy to have the IR for the basic functions
like factory reset,

You can do these with the SBC/wireless already though.

It's already there: Settings/Advanced/Factorytest/IR is remote emulation. Not
very user friendly, but it does work.
