piCorePlayer is the base system, it includes player software by default.
You have to install other packages to be a server. Here are the basic
steps.
1. Use the standard version on pCP.
2. Burn the image, and then boot the system.
3. Press the Beta mode Tab at the bottom.

Yes, the regular version of pCP is full featured. Disk permissions is
an area that is always troublesome. I've not found a good way to handle
without blasting the permissions once mounted. Once the permissions are
handled, then its no problem and trouble free.

If I understand you correctly I should:
1. Download the "standard version" of picoreplayer
2. mount the SSD to the Rasp Pi
3. Boot and
First the Audio version is a Realtime kernel, you will find that it will
destroy the performance when using your system as a server. the
majority of users are fine with just using the regular version. pCP is
managed with just a simple browser, there is no app.
