I just tried this; I didn't know it was possible becuase softsqueeze no
longer works (not sure if it's a leopard OS problem?)
Anyway... iTunes shows and plays as a player fine - what I can't do is
sync my iTunes player with a normal sb3. The sync menu has gone...
Any ideas?

well, I ended up un-install then re-install SqueezeCenter 7.0 and now
everything works.
So maybe SqueezeCenter didn't like Lame installed AFTER it?
Thanks for all the help though (particularly Andy)!

In iTunes, select Advanced - Open Stream. Type
http://ip:9000/stream.mp3 where ip is the IP of your SqueezeCenter
server.
Find the player in the SC web UI, it will be called something like
iTunes from 192.168.1.2 and then add tracks to play.

Not entirely sure I understand your problem, but make sure you have
iTunes selected as your player in SC, and the audio file type settings
are correct to alac/flac if you don't want to use mp3. I use iTunes on
a mac pro, all at ALAC.

Ahhh, have a look at your file types options. You may find that the AACs
are being transcoded to flac, which iTunes cannot handle.

A dumb question - how do I install Lame for SqueezeCenter?
All the Lame encoder I can find were designed for a specific GUI
frontend?
thanks!
