I have the Buffalo Terrastation, and it would be nice to get the slim
server to run directly on that device. Has anybody tried to get it to
work on that device directly?

I did this and it works great. It uses hardly any power and is
completely silent. It might be a little slower to load the slimserver
web pages etc. than a full blown PC,
