thanks for the reply. I had no idea that DRM was involved. Are all Real
streams DRM protected?
I read the french case and although I am no fan of apple formats, I
feel that the consumer is able (and should) choose where they get their
music, I am not sure a government should force

RealAudio - DRM. Technialy it probably does not have DRM, I am not sure. But
the point of their licensing etc is to prevnt your from re-using/transcoding
the data. That sounds like DRM to me.
As to the French - they are a little strange in many ways but on this point
