1) Is it correct to say that SlimServer under Linux is not able to use WMADEC to transcode WMA files? Is there any other decoder that can be used and does this decoder support WMA VBR? Can it be installed on a NAS (e.g. Qnap TS-101)?
You can install mplayer on the NAS boxes.
2) Can SlimServer under Linux stream WMA in native format? Does this include WMA VBR?
Yes - for some codecs. We support WMA (It's VBR by default, I believe). We don't currently support WMA Voice or WMA Lossless in firmware.
