Quality remote support services can never be free though. However, you
can try using gosupportnow remote access service. It is easy to use and
costs only $19.95 / month.

i use both logmein and windows remote desktop. my advice would be to
use remote desktop for your LAN, and logmein for over the net. however,
rd works over the net too.

Hi there
RDP will be fine on the old XP computer note however it must be XP
PRO.
XP HOME doen't have RDP as a Server but only as a Client -- although
if you look around the web there are some work arounds for XP HOME.
I don't recommend logmein -- as you are then dependent on yet another

Hi
My main computer is running Vista Home Premium, and I'm considering
using an old XP computer as an independent Squeezebox server tucked out
of the way. I'll want to administer this from the main PC. Please
recommend a free remote desktop application that I can use.
Thanks

Can't you just use RDC (Remote Desktop Connection), it comes with Vista.
All you should need to do is enable the XP box to allow RDC connections

Are both computers on the same network (i.e. your LAN at home)? Then
LogmeIn and Teamviewer both seem oversized to me as their main purpose
is to remote administer computers over the internet.
VNC will certainly do the job very well, but LogMeIn is a bit more

+1. Installed this for someone not tech savvy enough to post to this
forum, and she has no problem with using LogMeIn...

Windows Remote Desktop is the easiest way. But I think it is not
included in Vista home but only in the Business/Professional versions.
