I need a portable amp for my Squeezebox and have an opportunity to purchase this SonoSonic Sonic Impact T-Amp Amplifier by SonoCable for a resonable price. is it my best choice? no volume control (on Squeezebox) and only rated at 9 watts into 4 ohms and 6 watts into 8ohms should be enough to

I guess it depends on what you mean by very loud and medium to large! I run a gen 2 T-amp into a pair of regular bookshelf speakers. The room is a fairly standard sized bedroom, something like 12'x14' and I've never tried turning it to max, it'd be too loud. I wouldn't expect the same setup to
