I am considering adding an SB12 to my fast growing family of players to
go in the children's room. I'm just wondering if there are any issues
to be aware of ... I know that it is only capable of WEP encryption,
which shouldn't be an issue. Will it play FLAC files from my SBS on a
NAS set up?

I've just sp;otted that LAME needs to be installed on the server for
transcoding. As I am using an NAS I believe that is problematic. Tha,
commbines with pfarrell's post, means I think I'll have to avoid this

Had my SB1 for a while and had it working fine until I deleted my old
software and loaded the latest Squeezenetwork software only to find it
doesn't work!
Tried loading Slimserver 6.5.4, AlienBBC v1.05_6.5 and Lame 3.89
Plays music from PC and Alien BBC fine but intermittently stops/starts
Had my SB1 for a while and had it working fine until I deleted my old
software and loaded the latest Squeezenetwork software only to find it
doesn't work!
What issues did you encounter? The SB1 should work fine with SC 7.2.

display a PIN option in the menu so I have no way of entering it on the

I think with SB2/3 you can listen to internet radio without having
your server up and running. With SB1 I don't think that's possible.

If you mean connect to SQN without a local server, than the answer is no. But
in SlimServer 7 there will be much better integration of SQN with SlimServer,
allowing even SliMP3 and SB1 to access some of the former SB2+ only services
such as Pandora.
I've been thinking about buying a second SB, for use in the garage or
kitchen, and to keep it within budget, i've been snoopinhg about on
ebay.
Simple question, will a squeezebox version 1 play flac etc? the manual
only mentions mp3.
