So it's essentially a factory-installed HomePlug audio distribution
system. I believe this is the first time this has been done for purely
digital audio.

The first receiver with this is the 'ZR6001SP'
(http://us.marantz.com/Products/1545.asp), which includes a 'ZC4001
Client' (http://us.marantz.com/Products/1549.asp), also available
separately. High price though, $1299.99 for the receiver (which is
based on the SR5600 selling for $649.99) and the client is $329.99 -
yes, more than a Squeezebox. But it includes an amp and speakers.

In fact, the client may be very much what a Squeezebox boombox might
look like. It also gives you an idea of how much it might cost - keep
in mind, DAvED is a lot simpler than a Squeezebox.

It's an interesting, unusual approach though, and in my mind much more
interesting and revolutionary than the iPod boombox.

BTW this is not new, the press release was out January 31st, but this
is the first I've heard of it.
