thanks guys, those are both good suggestions. i'll try unchecking the songs first and see if i can work with that. if that doesn't work, i'll resort to the flac method, which puts more demand on my storage. -- roll - gybe

I know that you do not want to link iTunes to SlimServer, but have you considered using the Unchecked Songs in iTunes feature under Home/Server Settings/iTunes? To do this you would set the feature to Don't include unchecked songs and then only check the songs in iTunes that you wish SlimServer

You could also make a playlist that points to that album, and place the playlist in the SlimServer playlist directory. You'd have to create it in another application which SlimServer sometimes can't use, but take a look at the finished playlist in a text editor. Make sure it's an .m3u playlist.
