Sadly, no, I haven't. Am I correct in thinking that the SB3 can indeed
pass a 48khz signal via SPDIF ?

I have been using an SB3 for the last 30 months. I have been extremely
happy with the SB3, and later my Boom, but have never been entirely
happy with the ripping/ tagging/ storage/ distribution side. I want good
quality sound but I want the hardware to fade into the background so I
do not feel

Yes, the SB3 can pass a 48KHz signal via SPDIF.
Check your source files on your computer to see what frequency is
shown. It is possible that they are 44.1 KHz/ 24 bit
SB3 absolutely outputs 48KHz correctly.
Do you know that the indicator lights are reliable? Are you sure the
material is 48KHz?

What format are the files in?
Not sure if this matters (one of the experts in this area would know
for sure) but are you transcoding the files on the server or local to
the SB3, using bit rate limiting, and what are your setting in SC for
handling the file type you're sending to the SB3?
Only
Just checked it: My DAC Magic does light the 48 light when playing a
48khz FLAC.

ok, so bought some Gimmell studio master files at 24bit 48khz resolution
and my SB3 is connected via coaxial digital out to a Dacmagic DAC, which
is capable of reading 48khz signals. But the signal from my SB3 when
playing these 24bit 48khz files is still showing as 44khz on the DAC -
any ideas
