I find that highly unlikely. This should only happen if you perform a
Factory Reset. If true, I'd find another router.
In fact, a

I've never heard of that. Is it a "feature"? Seems like a security
weakness.
Anyway, I recently purchased a Radio remote for $13 on eBay and it works
fine. Also

I'd just change the network name & encryption & passcode on new router
to what was on old router I've been through three routers in last 15
years or so and none of my devices have needed to be changed or even
know they are connected to a different router. Much easier to change

Hi I need some help. I have been working through this thread but I am
not sure I have found the solution.
My situation is that I have a SB3 and a transporter. Both of the
remotes I have no longer work. That has not been a problem because I
have been using ipeng and a few other apps to
All good now :)
There's an option to auto-update firmware as described here -->
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Automatic_Firmware_Upgrade
Once I've set this the player automatically pulled down the latest
firmware (137) from the server and fired up after at least 10 years in
That player cant been updated for a while , if I remember the later
versions allowed auto update , no need to press the brightness button ?

Does it -need- a firmware update? A Classic would have had to have been
taken out of service many years ago to not have the latest

Some progress:
* Received the Boom remote and was able to get the Squeezebox Classic
into factory reset
* Configured network (Ethernet) and the box got an IP address
* I'm stuck at the "Software update" section. I need to press and

Also - when you made it control your TV did you enter a code for the TV
as a whole or just for 1 button?
Usually when working with programmable remotes you enter a code for the
other device as a whole and if it already has it in its firmware then it
maps all of the appropriate keys and you press

Thanks. Will take that

I suggest trying to reprogram one of the Denon buttons to the code of a
device that you know works - e.g. Your TV (if you can find a code for
it).
If that works then you know that the basic approach is correct.

Thanks for the input, guys.
I found an old remote for my Denon receiver that when looking at the
user guide can be programmed. The Denon remote requires a 5 digit number
code and the assignment seems simple enough. Question is what code do I
use. So I had a look at the Squeezebox wiki talking
Long shot on the off chance your LMS was set to allow extra remote
try a universal remote set to JVC_DVD

The net::UDAP probably doesn't discover since player is set up to use
wireless so you could try to set up a wifi AP (with SSID and password
the SB player knwos) and then connect the wireless AP to your LAN.
Then net::udap may work as player would appear on LAN.

My guess is more chance of that than a local SB owner but you never
know.

I have a similar situation with my SB Classic. However given I haven't
used it for a while - and now want to create another zone - I'm not sure
this is a problem with the Squeezebox itself or I need a remote (or the
Perl Script mentioned earlier in the thread).
Here's what happens:
1. Power On
Success... SBv3 up and running! I had to download and install Active
Perl in order to run the perl script but the script worked as
advertised. Now if I can get the large time readout back when the SB
is in the off postion...
Thanks again to all who helped.

My move generated all new network setup. New ISP - DSL - router.
Nothing is as it was. All good but for the loss of the remote.
I will try the JVC DVD remote codes later and if that fails I will dig
into the perl script. Hope something works as this device suits me
fine. It sat hardwired in

You're operating wirelessly, correct? Do you have access to the
router's configuration?
If so, and you were to do the following, the
I am using the SBv3 which has no wireless functionality. New network
devices and ip addresses required by the ISP's DSL modem setup.
Nothing is the same as previous network.
I am going for the perl now...

If it's wired, there's very little to do. You don't even

If you keep or mimic your old network setup then you should be able to
just plug everything in and it should work.
The following software tool is a little geeky, but it should work for
the Squeezebox as well as it does for the Receiver.

The thread posted is for setting up a receiver without the controller
(assuming you had a Duet, which isn't the case).
As that poster also mentioned, if your new network looks like the old
network, it should just work. Did you change your network settings of
network name? The server name or

I've never used it, but my understanding was that the script should
work for any ip3k based player: SB1, SB2, SB3, Transporter or Boom.

Wonder if the jvc code support is at the fw level, the server
understands it and you can disable/eneble it on the server. So can a
jvc remote access th fw menus ?
