Just to clarify for David (and apologies if you know this), you need an
Ethernet cable for (a) and (b). The same cable should fit both
applications. The wired SB3 comes with a 10 foot cable in the box. Cat

(20%). Takes about 45gb of the 80gb disc iirc, so depending on what
format you use, it should be enough space, but you can always expand if
you need to. I didn't rip on
I'm only using one SB2 at the moment, but the remote response using the
Qnap is indistinguishable from that of my PC set-up. Both are virtually
instantaneous. I might set up my SB1 at the weekend and try both running
together.

1. When I first set up the SB, I told it to use Laptop A. Now I have
decided that I no longer want to use Laptop A to connect to the SB, I
want to use Laptop B, as it is the one with my music library on it.
Laptop B is the machine that I want to connect with ,
AFAIK originally Linkstation were all PPC both the HD and HG models.
The HG have a Gigabit ethernet interface.
The HD models were updated (Linkstation II) and now use the MIPS
processor.
So if the HD model is brand new it is likely to be MIPS.

It appears that the automatic, scheduled, rescan is an update rescan,
not a start from scratch rescan.
Is there a good reason for this? I would prefer a clean rescan over
night - unless there is some loss impled by that which I'm not seeing.

Good idea, mine has a simple one - but I believe all the displays do is
count the pulses generated by (I would imagine) a Hall Effect sensor as
the wheel spins.

I am running SoftSqueeze at work and connecting to my SlimServer at home
via SSH. All has worked pretty well until recently.
Now when I launch SoftSqueeze, I get the usual warnings about
connecting to a private network, but at the point where the connection
succeeds, the screen on the SoftSqueeze
FWIW, I work on 3CDs per GB for FLAC (Apple lossless should be about the
same), so 80GB should hold about 240 CDs.

Worked like a charm! So . . . when fresh out of the box, SB needs to be
told where to look to find the Slimserver. If you want to change to
another server, you have to do the hold down the power button to enter
the config menu thing. On-the-fly switching would be nice, as a
wishlist item.

Keep in mind SlimServer and SqueezeNetwork are two different things.
When you are connected to one, the other one won't see your player.
This is normal behavior. The SB can't handle being connected to two
servers at the same time.
