What that call volume threshold is is completely up to MJ's

Your SB player (which model?) will not connect to the new ATT router?
Or the player does connect to the ATT router but cannot see your SBS

Have you tried completely setting the player up again from scratch?

Can you at least connect the player to MySqueezebox.com and play
internet streams?
ATT may have different settings or connection restrictions on their
device, I'd call them.

That may be the situation in Sweden, but in the US it's not hard to

slightly, but it can still be done. Shuttle, MSI and other brands have

Re: [slim] Need help pointing towards itunes

2011-03-04 Thread aubuti

It's not clear to me why you would want to point SBS to iTunes when you
have music files that SBS supports and iTunes doesn't. As far as I
understand it, the only thing gained with iTunes integration with SBS
is access to your iTunes playlists. Which is more important to you, your
iTunes playlists, or your 24-bit files? If it's the latter, simply point
SBS to your music library.

Exactly how you point it to the library on the mounted drive depends on
the OS on the computer running SBS. Some other details would be helpful,
such as (1) how are your lossless, MP3, etc stored on the drive (ie,
what is the directory structure), and (2) what specifically do you mean
by sort by lossless/lossy?

[slim] 7.6: working with MusicIP? (no 'M' icon)

2011-03-04 Thread bobkoure

I've done a test install of 7.6 (b31968) to see if it's time to move
over.
Scan works great!
Music IP imports OK (as shown on the information panel) but tracks
don't have the mix 'M' icon next to them in the web UI.
I've checked that
- MusicIP plugin enabled
- advanced/musicIP set to only read mixable status)
- Additional Playlist Buttons is checked on the 'interface' page

So... a two part question:
Does this work at all with MusicIP?
If it does, any notion of what I've done wrong to make the 'M' icons
not appear?

BTW, I also tried the old morethanthis=1 option on the web ui URL -
didn't help.

Thanks!
bob

[slim] Jazz FM Audio On Demand

2011-03-04 Thread norderney

I have been trying to stream some of Jazz FM's audio on demand on my
Transporter, but without success.
Ken Rayner from Jazz FM tells me that they use Wowza Media Server and
the audio itself is standard Nero encoded AAC wrapped in the standard
RTSP headers.
He gave me the following link to try:
rtsp://listen.onmyradio.net:1935/JAZZFM/MP3:jazzfm_wworld.mp3

I thought they were using Real Media, but he tells me they are not
using Real Media.

I have also tryed this link:
rtsp://listen.onmyradio.net:1935/JAZZFM/MP4:jazzfm_cuttingedge.m4a
but this does not work either.

Re: [slim] Jazz FM Audio On Demand

2011-03-04 Thread norderney

I've just received the following e-mail from Ken Rayner an engineer at
Jazz FM:

RTSP shouldn't really be the issue. It's simply another way of
wrapping the file info and any internet-connected device should be
able to read it.

The only http URLs I have are for iOS and Microsoft Silverlight.
Everything else is rtmp (for Flash) and rtsp (for everything else).

The only other thought is that we might include the instance in the
URL:

rtsp://listen.onmyradio.net:1935/JAZZFM/_definst_/MP3:jazzfm_latelounge.mp3

Meantime, let me know if you get any info back from the forum.

Regards

Ken

Warning: Error reading: No error
OK, *that* makes sense...
All files scanned fine previously with 7.3x and 7.5x (I'm pretty fussy
with tags).

I don't expect this is related to the 'M' icon not appearing.

I'm considering downloading and installing an earlier build of 7.6
before I fall back to 7.5.

FWIW, this build of 7.6 doesn't appear any faster then 7.5 on a
medium-spec machine (atom 525, plenty of memory, MySQL innodb buffers
110% of database size and I kept boosting query cache until old queries
stopped getting discarded).
I've gotten 7.5 to go faster, cache run from a ramdisk, but it's
currently not on ram (hard disk issues, hadn't done the ramdisk
shuffle, thought I'd take a stab at 7.6)

Thanks for the replies, guys. I don't have any custom channels yet, so
my only experience is with the mediafly ones such as Science and

properly on other SB devices. As I said in my OP, I am currently using
the latest version of SBS (7.5.3), but the Play channel function has
not worked for me with many previous versions of the F/W. Also note
from my previous post that this is the case using MySB and various
operating systems on 3 different computers. It would be helpful to
know if anyone else can play a channel with a SB3 without it stopping
after the 1st item in the playlist.

Re: [slim] the SQUEEZEBOX RADIO SHOW (this Saturday night 11pm EST)

2011-03-04 Thread toby10

My two phone lines through my cable provider has a bunch of features I
never use, I'll check to see if conferencing is one of them.
I have no interest in acting as host or co-host, but if using my phone
line can help I'll gladly donate that. Would my phone number need to
be public?

What about something like NowLive? A friend use to do a show on there
and it had some sort of call in feature with lines waiting. Each show
had their own chat room as well.
But NowLive did not stream very well to SB players though. :(

Well, try playing those rtsp streams in any media player program, see if
they work. My WinAmp won't play them, any rtsp link wants to launch
Real Player on my end.

Looking promising that we will be able to play these streams using the
rtmp flash versions... (using the rtmp processing in the BBCiPlayer
plugin with a small tweek + something new to add some menus)

Question: Would you buy a home integrated Squeezebox car appliance

- Yes
- No

I have wanted this for a very long time.

But it would have to work. I don't want a science experiment. So work
properly, Work reliably. Not require diddy-daddlying.

Ideally, I'd like something that uses 3G (as FLAC quality is not
essential in the car). But not with its own access - it would have to
have SAP (Bluetooth) to connect via my existing access.

A wi-fi sync (as you describe) would also work well.

And so would the ability to simply plug in a portable USB hard disk. It
is not hard (and takes no effort) to synchronise my server with another
USB hard disk (I do it all the time for backup) and simply plug that
into the car.

The Squeezebox in the car would have to be designed specifically to
allow operation while not looking at it, and not compromise safety in
any way.

An alternative would be an Android/iPhone app that allows all this
(over 3G of course) on the deivce itself and simply connect that to the
car. I know that's possible now, but it's not exactly bother-less. As
I said - I've got better things to do than sit around for hours trying
to piece something together.

Re: [slim] Jazz FM Audio On Demand

2011-03-04 Thread Triode

I've created a plugin for this. It should be available in the Other
3rd Party plugins list. It will also require you to install the very
latest version of BBCiPlayer. It plays the Flash/AAC streams (same as
those played by the web browser).

Let me know what you think (here or on the plugin forum).

Note - there may be issues playing back on Touch/Radio at present, if
you have this problem then disable set the proxied streaming option
for internet radio.

[slim] What Is Your Favorite Music Service?

2011-03-04 Thread phildeeze

I was curious to know what everyone here considers their favorite music
service for the Squeezebox. I am a Rhapsody fan but I like to browse
through multiple services because I always feel I might be missing
something better. Lets see who takes the cake, which service is most
popular among our peers.

I consider myself a Wi-Fi radio addict! I can't even remember how I

I used Rhapsody for the free trial. It seems they have everything until
your personal collection reveals they aren't really deep (in age) with
most artists' collections.

Everything is setup fine, in the house, but what about the car?

I can use a mobile device, as an iPhone, but this hasn't 150GB space...
I finally want the same, the identical music library like at home.

A SqueezeboxCar device would be a great new player, which could use an
external disk, with a copy of the home library and play it with a local
Squeezebox Server, a satellite. But better than a copy would be a sync.

Many people park the car in the range of their WLAN, so SqueezeboxCar
could automatically detect availability of it's parent Squeezebox
 Server and sync the library.

I couldn't say which type the SqueezeboxCar should be, classic car
radio, replacement of the CD changer.

I would prefer the replacement of the CD changer controlled by a Touch
like screen. Or even that SqueezeboxCar would be a WLAN repeater
 allowing control by iPeng.

 I would buy such immediately.

Very good. You can do this with current tools, specifically the Touch.
At this point (since I don't have a Touch,) the only missing piece is a
cron run of rsync to make the touch have the same music files as the
home server (and then do a clear/load.)

Re: [slim] the SQUEEZEBOX RADIO SHOW (this Saturday night 11pm EST)

2011-03-04 Thread chipmalee

Thanks toby10. I'm going to try one last test to try to trick the
system with MagicJack. You don't need to reveal your telephone number.
All you have to do is dial in a 213 number and punch in the access code
BlogTalkRadio supplies...then dial my home number and tie us into a
3-way conference. I'll send you that information in a PM.

I've never tried NowLive but I've been a listener on BlogTalk for about
a year now. I've become an expert on streaming them on my SqueezeRadio.
I am proud to say I've learned some tricks recently, such as being able
to fast forward (as well as reverse) their podcast on the SqueezeRadio.
I've never had any problems with BlogTalk so they get a big THUMBS UP
from me.
