Re: [slim] iPeng now your audiophile App-Squeezebox for iPhone and iPad
Nice, this inspired me to turn an old iPhone 3g with broken glass in to a SB Recevier. To activate it without a SIM card I had to jailbrake it. The rest was easy, just turn on Flight mode, turn on WiFi, turn of everything else, sounds, notifications and stuff like that and install iPeng and enable playback. Done. To bad that a few pinns in the dock connector on the phone was broken so I could not use the dock. But the headphone jack works for now. Thanks! /Bernt bernt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1342 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96037 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Can I stream my music over the internet?
pippin wrote: If you use SSH you'd have to set up a tunnel, don't know how to make SqueezePlay use that. I would use a VPN or plain port forwarding. Regarding port forwarding, here's another guide, I've written it for iPeng but it applies to SqueezePlay, too. The one thing why in SqueezePlay's case it's especially important to use a VPN is that SqueezePlay (like the SBs) can't use dyndns, it can only use IP addresses (Settings-Advanced-Networking-Remote Libraries). http://penguinlovesmusic.de/2011/02/11/coolios-guide-to-remote-playback/ Hi - I just added the streamng service to iPeng. I've read your guide, and I have several questions before I start setting up my music server for remote access (which I would prefer over Audiogalaxy). I will be using a VPN. I have a Linksys router (which supports VPN) and know how to access it's settings. First - my regular music server is on an Windows XP machine which offers PTPP. The iPhone settings have that as an option as well. Will that work with iPeng? Second - by default my Linksys router is set to DHCP. If I'm using VPN, do I need to change that to Static IP in the internet setup section ? If I do so, I then see an address beginning with something other than 192.168 as my Internet IP Address Third - do I also need a static IP address for my VPN Server? Do I achieve that by turning off DHCP in my network address server settings on my router or can I set it for a particular machine. (Couldn't find a way to do that.) Do I need to be concerned with port forwarding? Finally - Setting up VPN on the iPhone do I enter the external IP Address of the Router as the server? Sorry for all these questions, but I want to know what I'm getting into before I start. john greenwood's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41039 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96006 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Can I stream my music over the internet?
Setting up a tunnel in SSH is not that hard. This is the way I usually connect to LMS from outside my home network. For me it is easier than doing VPN but you need something running ssh server, which seems you already have. If you are using Putty ssh client there is an option under Connection - SSH - Tunnels. You add a tunnel such that a local port points to your LMS server at home. You need port 3483 for something like squeezeslave or squeezeplay to talk to the LMS server. If you want to use the web interface, set up a tunnel for port 9002 (or 9000, depending on your LMS setup) also. Then you tell squeezeslave to user your local host ip (127.0.0.1). If you using command line ssh, there should be command line options to set up the tunnels when you connect. try ssh -? desjarm1's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6956 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96006 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

wildgoose wrote: 1) what is the hardware requirement of ipeng for ipod touch? I have a 1G and 2G ipod touch. It will be really nice if this can work with the original ipod touch.. There is something I need to add to this: It is VERY likely that iPeng versions from a month on or so will no longer support the 2G iTouch and the iPhone 3G (not 3GS). It might be (I don't know) that it will be possible to make legacy versions available then but as well it might not be. I can't comment on details since I'm on iOS 6 NDA but it's not like I would have a choice as it looks right now. It's also not iPeng specific but will probably affect all new versions of most Apps. It might change until release but that's what it currently looks like. SO IF YOU USE ONE OF THESE DEVICES, MAKE SURE TO KEEP BACKUP COPIES OF CURRENT IPENG RELEASES (I'D EXPECT AT LEAST ONE MORE THAT STILL SUPPORTS THE DEVICES, THE ONE THAT IS ALREADY ON THE WAY). BTW: those of you who already use iPeng under iOS 6 will have notices that it crashes when you try to use MySqueezebox.com. I'll have a workaround for that in the next iPeng update but it's actually a bug in the iOS 6 beta, a pretty nasty one that's likely also causing a lot of other crashes you might eventually see and that I assume will go away until iOS 6 goes public, it's a known and documented issue. Anyway, the workaround is on the way pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96037 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezeplay Mountain Lion Install
Temporary workaround: if you disable your network connection just before starting SqueezePlay and re-enable it just after that, you will force the use of your system audio instead of any airplay device available on the network. This workaround works for me on OS X 10.8 and SqueezePlay 7.7.2r9599. Hope this little bug will be fixed soon.
