Using Smart Gain would use Track Gain. -"This proposal was tested against track normalization in a shuffled playlist of 24 songs with 38 subjects. It turned out that 80% of the subjects preferred album normalization, even though the tracks were selected for an extreme difference in loudness, of up to 10 LU."- Ok, I guess it's a personal preference thing. Re: [slim] Say Goodbye to iPeng Classic (for iPhone)
Man that stinks. This is precisely why I avoid apple like the plague. God forbid you try to use an older device and want to install apps, the app store makes sure you're in the dark. I reinstalled Mac OS X for a friend of mine on an older Macbook Pro. He wanted to redownload the updates and get garage band re-installed. Only problem is that the version on the App Store is only available for a newer OS X, and this laptop isn't compatible. Why remove old versions? Planned obsolescence. 1 Touch 2 Receivers 1 Controller 2 Radios FredFredrickson's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16584 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108305 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Somewhat incidental, but I don't get this. All "Smart Gain" does is make LMS use Album Gain if playing an album and Track Gain if playing a mix of tracks. There is a setting in Roon to tell it to work with Squeezeboxes, including squeezelite installs. In my use of roon, I'm using a separate cheap "roonready" endpoint made from a rasberry pi with the roon "RAAT" firmware installed. I still use LMS and squeezeboxes 99% of the time. But roon is a nice experience with how it displays and integrates information on one's collection. And it is mostly agnostic on what types of players it can stream to (squeezeboxes, sonos, roonRAAT, etc.) while doing separate room or synchronized, gapless, play almost any codec, etc.Warning: I don't think it will play CUE files or Windows Media Lossless. *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.4) > LMS 7.9.1 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.4) > LMS 7.9.1 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win8(64) > LMS 7.9.1 > Squeezelite *Spares:* Transporter, Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng & Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108402 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I'm still experiencing a lot of re-buffering on Transporter. The Qobuz desktop app is working perfectly. Therefore it has to be : 1. problem with Transporter or 2. problem with wi-fi Unfortunately, I've had no luck connecting Transporter via ethernet. I cannot get it to connect(an old problem). davidovada's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52810 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107243 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Can Roon handle that? In Roon they're called zones, but it's similar. No, Roon doesn't change anything on your players. It impersonates an LMS. You'll need quite some diskspace for the DB and stuff (mine takes ±6GB for 120k tracks), but apart from that I see no issues.
