- Non-Swipe Now-Playing UI for iPhone

- Smaller and lower resolution artwork
- New Main Screen UI for iPad

 Additional functionality:
Would it be possible for the app to have built in SSH tunneling / VPN
capability (sort of like the original softsqueeze). I do use the VPN
functionality of iOS for this sometime, but I wonder if it would be
 possible just for this app.

Sorry, no.
Encryption is export controlled in the US and if you add that you need
to deal with extra red tape on the App Store.
I prefer to write software instead...

So it's good that iPhone supports that out of the box.

Don't worry, it would only be an option.
The page explaining swiping is already there and comes up on the first

Is this a bug in squeezeslave? Do I need to transcode anything?

 Thanks,

Unfortunately, the stream is unavailable in my area, so I can't be

from using the mp3 decoder on an aac stream. SS becoming unresponsive
is almost always due to the server running at 100% cpu and is not
normally a problem with squeezeslave.

I am having problems with one Receiver but not with the other. The one
with problems keeps losing the server and cycles between the yellow

fix this but it starts again after a few hours.

Thinking of reverting to 7.5.1 which was the last stable release
available for the Synology. It worked fine - I have no idea why I
bothered to upgrade. It wasn't broke, yet I still decided to fix it.

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !

2011-02-15 Thread andischatz

Hi everyone,

I've had 2 Squeezeboxes (Boom) for a several months now and I
absolutely love them. So far I've also been using SqueezeCommander for
my Android phone (HTC Desire) and been pretty happy with it.

Now a few days ago I won an iPad in a poker game :-) and while I didn't
immediately see what I would be doing with that thing (I work from home,
and don't travel a lot at the moment, and so far my phone was able to do
anything I needed done when I'm out of the house) I've been determined
to find practical uses for it, because well, now that I have the thing
sitting there, you know? ;-)

Along comes SqueezePad. Now THIS is really the first really practical
use of the iPad I have been able to find and I'm already loving it.
It's now sitting on my desk controlling and displaying the music I hear
and it's simply beautiful. Don't get me wrong, the SqueezeController on
my Desire is also lovely, but SqueezePad adds a whole new dimension.

What I particularly like is the option to use the iPad as an extra
player (through the in-App purchase) and then channelling the music to
my living room HiFi through AirPort. So far I have only been able to
control the music played there directly from my PC's iTunes (and even
though my office is just next door from my living room, it's much
easier just to take the iPad along now), so I can now actually control
the music I hear in my living room from my sofa.

SqueezePad's ability to act as a player might actually change the way I
use my Squeezeboxes, because one of them is in my bedroom now and I only
ever use it at night - in the future I might position that elsewhere and
simply place an active speaker system in my bedroom that'll simply plug
into the iPad at night.

One small glitch I discovered today though - I tried synchronizing one
of my Squeezeboxes and the SqueezePad player (played through AirPort)
and a strange thing happened. For the duration of one song, the music
was synchronous. When the next song started, the AirPort stream lagged
behind about a second and a half. When I tried to re-synchronize, I got
an error message (can't remember exactly what it said now I'm afraid)
and the music stopped on both players.

I realize that this is probably a technically very challenging use of
the system and it's not that big a deal anyway, but it would be nice if
the feature worked reliably, so I'm posting this here.

In every other way, SqueezePad is practically perfect and it has made
my new iPad actually worthwhile :-D

Greetz from a fellow Berliner by the way ;-)

Re: [slim] Looking for a SB Boom alternative / replacement

2011-02-15 Thread StuartUSA

Just recently started playing with SqueezeServer after being a long time
XBMC user, so far so good, the Squeeze handles music much better,
although I still use XBMC from time to time.

The one thing I have done recently was to add squeezeslave on my XBMC
machine. XBMC is setup to use the HDMI connector for sound, and video,
so I configured squeezeslave to use the headphone jack which is wired
into my amp. Works a treat and I use the web interface to control it
from my PC, iPeng on my iPhone, slim control on an old WM PDA I had
lying around, and squeezePlay on a touch screen. Would recommend trying
it out

[slim] sb3 problem

2011-02-15 Thread Dragan

i own an SB3 for two years now, using it almost 24/7/365 for listening
to the internet radio. A couple of days ago it started to malfunction:
when it is in Off status (the Time display only) every 20 secs it goes
to Pause status (showing the last song, but not giving the output
signal)remains there 10 secs and goes back to Off status! Fortunately,
during the On status ie. while listening to the music it works OK.

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !

2011-02-15 Thread bluegaspode

Hi andischatz,
thanks a lot for all these kind words! Want to see them on the AppStore
as well :D

Synchronization and then streaming via AirPort - wow - interesting use
case indeed.

I do have one user reporting delays of about one second when trying to
synchronize and stream via AirPlay. The reason for this is that
SqueezePad hands the synchronized music over to the iPad (which would
be fine if the sound would be played directly via the speaker) ... but
all delays that are introduced afterwards because of AirPlay cannot be
handled (as SqueezePad doesn't even know that there might be delays).

If the delay via AirPlay is constant one can use some server settings:
Web-Interface-Settings-Player-SqueezePad Player-Synchronisation -
'Audio Delay'. This is the option for delays introduced by external
gear.

Now you say that the delay changed from one to the other song. Really
strange ... Could you check if both songs have the the same file
format? Maybe the iPad handles different music formats different, when
AirPlay is used?
If this is the case, you could force the server to always send the same
format (Web-Interface - Settings - Advanced - File Formats).

If you see the error message again, don't hesitate to contact support
(you can make a screenshot by the way by just hitting the power and
home button of the iPad at the same time - it's then in your photo
gallery - easy thing to do if you don't want to write anything down).

download and install 7.5.2 (windows executable) from here:

http://downloads.slimdevices.com/SqueezeboxServer_v7.5.2/

you shouldn't need to uninstall 7.5.3, just install on top when you
connect your players to SbS with the older version, they should

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !

2011-02-15 Thread holterzoff

Thanks again for the last update, I like the favorite button very much
and the preload of the next track works great for me. Especially i'm
fond of the clean interface and how you manage to keep it that way
although you add features.
Greetings from cologne

Yes, please report back on your iplayer findings.

I know this sounds crazy, but I just can't reproduce the fault anymore!
As far as I can tell the only thing that has changed is I've upgraded
SBS to 7.5.3

So, switching from flacs, to mp3s, to AAC streams from iPlayer all
works perfectly. I've also noticed the iPlayer streams are much quicker
to start too now.. really strange...

OK I am going crazy.. one thing that has changed is when running
squeezeslave from the commandline I get this error message now - I've
never seen portaudio mentioned before..

Code:

root@server:/usr/sbin# squeezeslave -o 7
bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111)
bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111)
bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111)
bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111)
PortAudio error7: No output devices found.

However when running it from my rc.local script the Portaudio error
doesn't appear in the log file... I'm totally out of my depth here,
maybe it makes sense to you though?

And is that the active server in iPeng? Or just a choice under Music
Sources?
Are you sure the 3G communication works, can you reach your server
through the Safari browser on the iPhone?

I believe that it is not possible to make it wireless as the SB PCBs are
different between the two versions

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android

2011-02-15 Thread maniac103

Can any of the SqueezeCommander users please tell me whether the music
files downloaded from the server via SC keep their tags, at least
Title/Artist/Album Artist?
That isn't the case for SqueezeControl, and as music download would be
a function I use pretty often, that's the last question that keeps me
from buying.

Thanks :)

Absolutely. Works like a charm...so far as I know the file is untouched
(also includes embedded album art in the tag).
