Just because a woman doesn't take to Squeezeboxes doesn't mean she's
dim. My wife has a mathematics degree from Oxford University (which I
think qualifies her as Not Dim), but she's not that enamoured of our
Squeezeboxes. She *can* use them, but prefers that I operate them.

That's not really disputing the concept. It's more of an affirmation.

I'm using 7.6.0 on a Sheevaplug.
With 7.6.2 you mean the dismissed beta version? (it looks like they
are going for the 7.7).
Does it really solve my problem? You know, installing a dismissed beta
over a working (with these minor issues, but working) release doesn't
make me excited...

Just a word of caution re: SyncToy - there's a clue from the name. It is

I trialled it and found that it had a 255 character path+file length

By default, the convert.conf file is set up to use SoX (7.5) or Flac

Might be picking up one of these, original Slim Devices SB3's.
If I upgrade the firmware to the latest release, will it be the
equivalent of the last of the Logitech branded SB3's or are there
internal hardware differences?
Also, can I upgrade the PSU for it by using a SB Touch psu which is

Aaaahhh, no, my wife is certainly not dim. If she chose to, she could
learn how to set all of this stuff up (network, CD ripping, server

Hi,
I've had my squeezebox classic for a few years, and recently discovered

There is absolutely no hardware difference. Even the older Squeezebox 2,
which is internally nearly identical to the SB3, can run the latest
SB2/3 firmware.

I've also looked at a few Android apps and found SqueezeCommander to be

Rather similar to iPeng, which is no bad thing.

The young girls who wear down thier thumbs on cellphones all day would
not have problems :)
They are also to smart to be audiophiles, and a squeezebox can be a
part of that setup, so they can have some emotional resistance to
