I've defined two servers: one for Home Wi-Fi and second for 3G.
But the problem that I need to change it manually when the connection
type is changed.

Have you tried to set Ignore WIFI status under settings?
Since I done that I haven't had any connection problems and I have the
same phone
Before it was a 50-50 chance to get it to connect, and if it didn't I
had to toggle wifi off-on

So has there been any progress with this project or has it died a quiet
death? A UI overhaul to comply with the belle standards would be nice,
as well as an option for player selection.

The two receivers won't connect at all (yellow lights stays on) even if

Looking at rescan reason and that is showing for example songs:

What is the logic behind rescans, is it only then the numbers for
albums,songs and so on is changed or is it something else?

One thing you may want to try if you are suffering from DB Resyncs is
to do a full Clear and Rescan of your SBS.
The reason for this is that sometimes (I haven't found a pattern), the
SBS reports the wrong number of items.
E.g. SBS tells SqueezeCommander that it has 1000
