I converted from flac to apple lossless (yeah, yeah, get over it, and
yes I did keep a backup copy). Everything is now in iTunes. Any stuff I
want to buy can be ripped into lossless, but to be honest, life's too
short and I don't listen in such a critical environment, so most of it
is downloaded, and from itms, so yes, a bit lossy (and doubtless
ruinously expensive etc). Anyway, what it means is that I can buy a
song on my iphone (or wife's iphone) and it will automatically be added
to the library and magically appear on LMS. I can't tell you how much
 hassle that saves me.

Much as I would resent going that Apple route. That is what I would do.
Do a batch convert of all Flac files to alac, and make my iTunes and
LMS directory the same. If I didn't have too many lossy files, and it
was inconvenient to convert only flacs, I would probably convert
everything to alac, if I had the disk space.

I don't think you even need to make the directories the same, just tick
the use iTunes box. ALAC is now open source anyway, so one of the two
main reasons for using flac falls away (the other being native
decoding).

Re: [slim] Why does this goes to Various Artists...

2012-03-07 Thread JENCDK

Hi again

I have now stripped all extra tags, and the problem remains the same. A
folder where each and every file has the same Album Artist and Album
tag, is handled as a compilation, which it should not.

It does not seem to be my WMA files that makes this happen, as if I
only have these files in the folder, everything goes as expected, and
the folder is correctly not handled as a compilation.

If I add MP3 files, some of them handles correctly. Whereas others does
not handle correctly and results in the entire folder to be handled
wrongly as a compilation. I have tried one-by-one to discover some that
handles correctly and some wrong.

I cannot see any differences in files or in tags in files, for the ones
handles correctly and the ones handled wrongly.

I use MP3Tag to view tags. I don't see a TPE2 tag, and can see that
this is referenced more places for Squeezebox Server.

- Which other program than MP3Tag could I use to see TPE2 tags, and
other relevant tags, to see if I can find the wrong info this way?

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Squeezeslave: 1.2 released

2012-03-07 Thread ralphy

Try this 'ZONES enabled build'

You'll need to add -z1/2 to your command line. It should create a new
player unless you have already added -m.

This features was provided by odedn. See this 'post'
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=658506postcount=242) for
details.

If you get the error 'Invalid number of channels', then you'll need to
adjust the -z option. Also don't forget to select the asio device on
the command line.

ok, we need you to start getting specific here.

how many albums are being called comps by server that are not comps in
reality? what are they called/named? what format are they in?

do you have one album per folder?

personally, i don't mix formats. so you are saying it is ONLY mp3
files that are getting classified wrong? do they have id3 and wma tags
in them, or just wma? are they in folders with wma files?

mp3tag calls TPE2 album artist it doesn't show frame names.

have you drilled down to the song info level in server and looked at
the raw tags server finds?

Re: [slim] Dear Squeezebox, still love you

2012-03-07 Thread GeeJay

I share the love. The Squeezebox line has allowed me to rediscover my
passion for music I lost somewhere in early adulthood. I have spent
more money on music in the last 5 years than I did in the previous 20,
counter to what is happening to the industry in general. I hope
Logitech stays committed to the line, because I fear any alternative
will just be a dumbed-down one-trick pony compared to what I've
experienced with Squeezebox.

Oh yes, and I can confirm that it ONLY happens when you are sending it
via Airplay to an Apple TV2 or BW Zeppelin, or something. As I don't
have any squuezebox devices and ONLY use my LMS (on Synology) with
Airplay devices, it is a bit annoying :-)

Thanks !

Two options:
- don't use them in the same room,
- disable the default IR set for Transporter in the web UI Settings/Player
