Thanks for the responses and thread links. I must not have gone deep
enough in my search results to find either thread.

Sync 3 players is fine at least with Triodes plugin ( I do't use the
official one it has a region bug that makes it annoying , it pretty
often turns up songs that can't be played in your region ) .

I sunced tw Touchs and one BOOM

MOG does not have this limit. I just tested to be sure. I played one MOG
song to a TOUCH and RADIO that were synched together and then separately
played a DIFFERENT MOG song to my BOOM.

and I'm still not 100% convinced that the problem doesn't lie in the
DHCP/static IP address setup. Seems the transporter is seeing the
internet, seeing the router, etc. Although it is possible there is some
hardware problem, it sure sounds like an IP address issue. I recall that
your router has a 192.168.120.1 address. This seems odd as well, as I've
never seen a router that wasn't 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. The 120
in yours leads me to believe that there may be something
special/different about your network setup. Anyhow, worth exploring in
more detail

edit. for example, can you simply take the transporter to a friends
house that has a simple network and plug it in to their router with an
ethernet cable, and see if you can connect

[slim] Compatible WLAN cards for SB3, Boom, Reciever Transporter

2012-06-16 Thread bpa

Recently my SB3 failed to boot - no display but optical connection
glowed. A common reason is the WLAN card has either become loose has
failed.

So I removed the wireless card and then found SB3 would boot up.
Reseating the WLAN card still resulted in no boot so thew WLAN card had
clearly failed so I had to look for a replacment.

Searching threads it seems the supplied WLAN card is either model no
WLANTPBG or WLANTPBG v2. Both cards are very similar in appearance. One
of them is a TP-Link TL-WN560G OEM which has an Atheros ar2413 chip. In
a forum post Slimdevices said the wireless card were changed somewhere
between SB2 and SB3 and the chips from AR2413 to AR5212.

I couldn't find anyone selling individual TP-Link Tl-WN560G and another
forum post said that updated version the WN360G did not work so I had
to find an alternative.

It is clear the supplied WLAN is an OEM card in which case it would have
been sold to other equipment suppliers so I looked for Atheros ar2413
cards whose physical layout/appearance looked very similar to the WN560G
card ( http://www.tp-link.eu/pic_zoom.php?hash=05483id=1 ) and
similar spec (i.e. only 54Mbs 802.11b/g and no SuperG, no a/b/g, no
108Mbps). Similar OEMed cards also seem to be made by Askey Computer
Corp. The following site has a large selection of WLAN cards and
photos.
http://www.pchub.com/uph/category/279-0-0-1-0/Wireless-LAN-Card.html?ps=100type=0
.

I found a Packard Bell card 17-000660 looked similar (although missing a
chip on Top LHS) and found one for sale on ebay for 6 euro and it worked
when installed in my Sb3 although the wireless reception is a little
poorer.

Googling wireless 17-000660 I found this card is used by Packard Bell
and Toshiba. I think the sister card 17-000661 might not be suitable as
it uses ar2514 and is a 108Mbps card.

Other cards that I think which might work in a SB player include

Packard Bell 17-000660
Toshiba 17-000660
ACER AR5BMB5
Sparklan WMIA-165G
Compex WLM54G 6AA1300 (although this has higher power output which might
be a problem for player power supply)

It is also possible that this OEMed card has been used in some Sony and
Fujitsu/Siemens laptops.

As a WLAN card is used in SB3, SB3, SB Classic, Transporter, Boom and SB
Receiver - I think it would be helpful if other users could post their
success/failure with replacement WLAN cards.

My network is working well with the 192.168.120.0/24 address space,
I have just modified the router from its default configuration which is
10.0.0.1,

The transporter is working well using wireless with this address space
and able to get a DHCP ip address,
Both my SB DUET and SB Classic are getting ip address on this network
with their Ethernet ports,

So how come the transporter cant?

I have also took a brand new DLINK router and set it to default
(10.0.0.0/24 addresses) and plug the Transporter directly to it and
nothing,
With my laptop I could get a DHCP address,

Next thing I am going to try is a cross cable between the transporter
and my laptop , I wonder if that will work…..

Thanks,

If the transporter is out of stock and not for sale anymore why do they
keep offering this for sale:

hmmm. The issue may not be in the router, etc. but maybe in something
related to the Transporter and its ability to get the IP address. I'm
not expert on this, but 10.0.0.1 also seems a very odd local network IP
for a router. I think I know you've tried this, but just to be sure,
you've done a factory reset on the transporter and NOT done a static IP
address, instead letting it try to get a DHCP provided IP address while
connected to ethernet?

Re: [slim] Android Controller App

2012-06-16 Thread rocat

Hi!

My Squeezebox Touch is connected via wifi to my pc (Windows 7), where
the music library is located, and the LMS (logitech media server) is
installed.

Another library is located in a USB flash drive, permanently attached to
the Touch: I rip some of my CDs directly to the flash drive folder, via
wifi. I play those files by starting the onboard Touch's own tiny media
server.

LMS version: 7.7.2 - r33893. Diagnostics are all Ok.

Squeezebox Touch: Firmware: 7.7.2-r9663

On my phone Samsung Galaxy S2 is installed the official Logitech Android
App: Squeezebox Controller.

The phone is connected via wifi. Android version: 4.0.3.

This setup, as described, has been working great for a long time, with
no problems at all.

In the last couple of days, this is what happened:

If I start the tiny media server onboard the Touch, playing the files
stored on the attached USB flash drive, the Android App works great,as
usual and intended.

If I launch the LMS (logitech media server) on my PC, the Touch works
normally, playing all of the files or/and internet radios, but...the App
doesn't work: the message I get is player not found.

I fear I updated (automatically?) the App, getting a newer, bugged
version, perhaps?

I tried to clear the App cache, uninstall it, reinstall it: no fun.

I got the Touch off the mains (unplugged it), with no results at the
restart.

So: the App works normally is the Touch own tiny server is started.
The App doesn't work if the LMS is started, and the library on my PC is
chosen.

Please, can somebody help me?

Bye :-)
