Re: [slim] What can I do now? Squeezebox classic died

2013-02-12 Thread downtime

Yes. I bought it directly from Logitech. I've since purchased another
Classic and a Boom, so I'm not without music. I just wanted to get this
one working again as the line has been discontinued. If my other Classic
dies, I'm not sure what I'll hook up to my stereo amplifier.

I found lots of references to the schematic but couldn't locate it. I
did find a statement from Logitech saying they don't release that sort
of document to the public.

I'll look for a hifi shop.

Thanks.

Thanks maggior and Pascal. I have tried it without the wifi card with no
luck - the S/PDIF light still glows red but no boot up. I bought this SB
new in the summer of 2007, so it's seen some use, but never been opened
 before.

Below is a photo of the other side of the card. The blue capacitor (is
that the word?) is soldered to the white spot on the other side and the
board with input/output ports, etc. is soldered to the line of points
 with the smear.

If it needs to be serviced, do you have any idea where I can send it?

 Thanks again for your help.

It's not only the capacitor that was serviced, that row of solder points
below it look like they were hit with a soldering iron too. That
whitish residue could be from a spray used to clean residual flux from
the circuit board after soldering. I wonder if there was an engineering
change that changed that cap and they went back into some inventory and
made the change? ...something like that probably would have made it
into the forums though...

Do you have any experience using a soldering iron on a circuit board?
If so, it would be worth hitting the solder joints on the capacitor with
a soldering iron to freshen up the solder joint. If that doesn't help,
it would be worth hitting the row of solder joints below the cap.

Did you also try the Xilinx reset (press 1 on remote during power up ) ?

Thanks maggior. I don't have any experience with a solder iron but I'll
find someone who does when Tet is over. (I'm in Vietnam.) I appreciate
the suggestion.

bpa, I tried the Xilinx and the hard (+) reset with no result. Thanks,
though.

[slim] Squeezebox replacement candidate Simple Audio taken over by Corsair

2013-02-12 Thread Gadgety1

Corsair is a large player in the PC market - SSD memory, USB drives
power supplies, gaming peripherals, cooling and computer cases. Today
Corsair announced having bought lossmaking Roomplayer manufacturer,
Simple Audio. Corsair has a well built up distribution channels in the
PC-enthusiast segment which I find bodes well.

TRhe usual ports are open both at the server and the machine running
squeezeplay 3483 tcp/udp 9000 tcp and the network must allow udp
 broadcasts .

I'm familiar with remote libraries in SqueezePlay but the only question
it asks is language and then it tries to connect. It sees the server
vb22 but will not connect.

Obviously connecting to mysb.com is out of the question because it never
asked for credentials.

I have enabled all ports for tcp/ip and udp to be opened to
squeezeplayer.exe.

Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!

2013-02-12 Thread mbw2001

Hey. Just bought the app and loving it so far.

However i noticed one thing. I am using the DenonSerial addon on my
Squeezebox to control the volume on my Denon Amp.

This works like a charm with the volume buttons in the standard version,
however in the preview version the volume is listed as locked and
cannot be changed.

Lastly i see a few posts about optimizing screen realestate for tablets.
Any plans on that? Most look fine on a tablet, however when browsing the
library a lot of the screen is wasted. Listing albums as coverart with
multiple albums on a line instead of as a list with the album name to
the right would improve the look a lot.

Trying to decide if this is intentionally ironic or not...sounds a lot like
