The new Playstation 4 can very disappointing not be connected to the 5
GHz wireless network .
This means that it runs at 2.4 GHz network and interfere with
Squeezeboxes .
After my son started his PS4 my Squeezeboxes began to be thrown on and
off my wireless network all the time.

Question:
Check for duplicate IP's and max number of devices allowed on WiFi?
Seems the two most logical reasons for such behavior.
I doubt it is a general issue with the PS4 itself.

Thanks for the suggestions. Things are working better for me now. Here
is what I've learned.
First, there is a network test plugin that supposedly allows you test
the quality of the network connection between an SB and the LMS. It
doesn't appear to work properly. It shows no packet loss for data

IIRC the network test still works OK and it uses UDP to test the quality
of the underlying network as packet loss can be detected easily. LMS

of packets but this can cause problems if effective throughput

Thanks for the reply. Tried it, but it didn't make any difference. Also

I have a 3 Squeeze boxes (two v3 and one original), but have thought
about adding a higher end player to my home theater room. I've always
wanted the Transporter, but the Touch looks like a great player as well.
Is there any advantages of one over the other?
On another note, is there a chance

It's just my opinion but previously I always wanted a transporter but in
all honesty I'd go for a Touch in preference to the transporter. Mainly
for the reasons given above and also for possible future upgrades with a
DAC and the EDO plugin.

Does anyone have any feedback on what a 5 year old Transporter is worth
today?
Thanks!

Just a thought but are you absolutely sure it was using the Ethernet
connection. Unlike most devices just plugging in a cable won't work, you
need to reset the SB and reselect the cable connection. Apologies if you
already know this.

hard to say, but I'd guess $800 is too much. The internal DAC with
balanced outs, etc. can be bested these days with newer technology DAC

Is there an app for PCs (Windows, specifically) that allows you to
remotely connect using a URL-type address rather than just the numeric
IP address?
SqueezePlay requires the numeric IP address. From a remote location, I'd
rather be able to use a name that is a) easier to remember and b) fixed.

But, its easy to test. How about running the networking test yourself?
You just have to enable the

Yup, and shows consistency across basic networks in good health.
Whether these results can actually tell us much beyond that I have no
idea.
I did some checkiong on the plugin.
It used to use UDP but was rewritten to support Touch and Radio and now
uses TCP.
In the plugin there is this line regarding max rate to test and this
line is used for any player except Radio, Touch and Squeezeplay.
Code:

I recently purchased a brand new SB Touch at a tidy profit for the

think the Transporter has the higher cool factor, but the Touch will do
nicely and should sound excellent in my system. I already have a SB or
six, so the
