Re: [slim] Call for testers! Daphile
Yes, I'm interested in such a version. Especially if I could reduce power consumption of my Intel NUC DN2820FYKH, that I'm using as Daphile server. Power consumption (idle) is around 5.5 to 6.8 W (depending on CPU frequency settings). According to informations I've found in the internet power consumption should be at around 4 W idle (running Windows). That's actually not much of a difference, but you know: I want to optimize  BTW: I think such a NUC is an ideal platform for Daphile (or other Logitech Media Servers). My collection is mounted via NFS from a Synology DS114. The DS114 IMHO is way to slow for running LMS with a collection 50k+ songs. For example: Functions like random playlist take ~1 second on the NUC and 10 seconds on the DS114. I'm stuck with release v158, all newer Squeezeplay versions play music at slow motion ! You're on to something but I can't quite figure it out. Since posting above I've discovered that it is only FLAC files that cause the problem. I can play Internet radio and also MP3 files in My Library via Squeeze Player just fine. As soon as I select a FLAC file and hit Play everything hangs. I also noticed that when I do this FLAC.EXE starts up in my Windows Task Manager. This does not happen when playing FLAC on any other SB player. I don't have a custom-convert.conf and everything on my File Types page looks normal (e.g. FLAC FLAC = Native). Any idea what is going on here? It could be a problem with that but OTH doesn't bit rate limiting use lame.exe? It could be a problem with that. I wonder if you could try a WAV file with the BRL turned on, that might help isolate the issue. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback now on ANDROID! SqueezePlayer released to the market ...
If bitrate limiting is on, FLAC.exe is needed to decode the FLAC first, then lame or another mp3 decoder does the bitrate limiting. This should be working without problems of course. As you're saying you are running on Windows I'd also expect some decent hardware behind the scenes, so that you wouldn't run in CPU or Ram issues. I expect when enabling bitrate limiting on another Squeezebox you are running into trouble as well? Stefan, sorry to have initially laid this on Squeeze Player; it seems Bitrate Limiting is broken on all of my SB players. Perhaps I have a non-compatible LAME.EXE version? Thanks everyone for your help.
