Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
Sorry, can't try Pandora anymore here in Europe, but does it work if you play it through the context menu? Pandora menus have always been a bit weird and maybe a change broke something or SC had a workaround that no longer works after a change in 7.8 --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69352 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
Hello, I am having a strange issue after upgrading to LMS 7.8.0. I can no longer "play" any of My Apps (Sirius, Pandora) channels. The app will browse all that way to the channel that I want to hear showing the album art/channel art/name, etc. but it never proceeds any further to actual allow me to select "play" and listen to the music. Any thoughts? Even stranger, if I select and play the channel from the LMS web GUI, the app will show it is playing and allow me to drill down to "play" another channel once more. After I navigate to another source of music on the app it ceases to work again. I have tried completely uninstalling and re-installing again without success. At this point I have had to buy Orange Squeeze since it appears I cannot open a bug on the SqueezeCommander Trac page (the site appears to be down). Thanks in advanced. --Dustin dustinsterk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19649 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69352 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

So basically, I was just wondering if it would be safe to use those free/unsecured wifi hotspots for something like online shopping, and not have somebody sniff out our credit card numbers etc... Actually asking for the benefit of other family members... Me, I'm just interested in the safe, remote access to my Squeezebox library so I can impress the friends next time there's a party at someone's house...ha ha ha! ;) A big Thanks, again, for the help! Re: [slim] Do people still buy digital music? New business idea; would love feedback
This reminds me, in some aspects anyway, of Noise Trade (www.noisetrade.com). You sign up for a weekly email and you get access to full albums or in some cases, compilations of artists. I believe when I signed up I told them what genres I was interested in. It is a pay-what-you-want model. I find it good for discovery since the emails do a thorough job of categorizing the music by stating - "For fans of:" follwed by a list of band names or record label names. It's only mp3 at this point but I've discovered a few bands through them. Re: [slim] Help me set up VPN for remote playback w/ iPeng etc
About the direct to redirect (huh?) internet traffic thing. If you're an employee in, say, a bank, the admins want to see all the traffic going out and coming in to your computer. To do this the default outgoing route (Internet) has to be through the VPN link, then to the VPN server's default route, and then back to you. This is secure but it makes casual browsing a bit expensive. If you don't force the default route to go through the VPN link, you'll have one route for 10.8.x.x, and a default route pointing to the router on the hotspot you're on. Browsing will be faster but the hotspot router will know what you've done (besides hitting your VPN server.) Basically, if you don't know the purpose of redirecting the default route through the VPN, there is little chance you really need it. 4 SB 3 iPeng (iPhone + iPad) SqueezeLite Squeezebox Server 7.8.1 (Debian 7.5) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld ShairTunes by StuartUSA Local Player, BBC iPlayer, SwitchPlayer by Triode Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102819 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Love the idea of liner notes! I plan on providing some information with the downloads, just haven't worked that part out yet. I hear you on "owning" the actual media. I am still old school like that as well to a certain degree, although I am starting to convert. Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. Re: [slim] Help me set up VPN for remote playback w/ iPeng etc
In theory it should but you will find that a lot, probably most, of such hotspots won't allow the VPN pass through. It depends on the equipment in use. Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!
Sounds like at least for 7.8 and 7.9 I should rely on it for cache purging? Is "lastscan" updated whenever BMF finds new music? I think I did fix a few issues with the lastscan value, including BMF, as the web UI's new caching in 7.9 does rely on it, too. -- Michael ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
