True if they only want to stream. However, I don't think these two ropieeeXL endpoints would synch to one another exactly unless running something like Roon or LMS. Simply as two standalone spotify endpoints, they'd be off synch (assuming they want synched players, that is, one could hear both at the same time in one's home) *Home:* VBA 4TB (2.5) -or- rPi4B/pCP6.0/4TB>LMS 7.9.3>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.4) -or- rPi4B/pCP6.0/4TB>LMS 7.9.1>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (ethernet, Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>LMS 7.9.3>Squeezelite *The Wild: *rPi3B+/pCP4.0, hifiberry Dac+Pro, 4TB USB (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone11 & iPadAir2 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) *Files:* ripping: dbpa > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112330 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Weird Playlist behavior
bumping this. after moving to a RPi running pCP, i'm still having this issue, so seems clear it's an LMS problem (happened on both 7.9.2 and 8), or a player issue. i've spelunked through the settings for both, and don't see anything obvious that would cause this. -- 4 TB Drobo-->FW 800-->mac mini-->Ethernet Transporter--> Wireworld Eclipse 6 coax-->Meridian G61 G61--> Nordost Red Dawn-->Primare 30.3 Primare-->Ocos--Vienna Acoustics Beethoven/Maestro netchord's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21002 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112317 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Seeking advice on multi-room systems for non-techies
I'm unclear on whether your friends already have a stereo or powered speakers to use with LMS. If so, setting up a Raspberry Pi server/player and controlling via mobile device is the way to go. If not, I'd take a closer look at Sonos. A pair of Sonos One can be configured for stereo or set up in different rooms as needed. Same mobile control and no server necessary. If your friends subscribe to Amazon Prime, Sonos will play the included Amazon Music service. This from an absolute LMS fanboy. It seems the major options would be LMS, Roon, or Sonos. Roon is not free, and if they struggle with LMS technology, they would with Roon as well. Sonos is supposedly simpler to deal with (although can still have network issues, etc.), but way less flexible, and tied to only SONOS players. I'd say a simple LMS setup, with rPi PiCorePlayer, local music on attached USB drive, a smart device controller on phone/pad (ipeng for iOS or use the MATERIAL interface), and a streaming service like Spotify or Tidal would be the simplest option. The "hardest" part of the LMS setup is the initial setup (and you'll be helping with that). Just using the setup should be essentially transparent to the users. My wife just "locates" what she wants to play (internet radio, podcast, local music, spotify) using a controller, selects it, and it plays. She's been using the system for over 10 years and has no clue how it works, etc. And it simply just works, year in and year out. Until the virus stuff, I traveled a lot and could be gone for weeks at a time. System never failed in my absence! *Home:* VBA 4TB (2.5) -or- rPi4B/pCP6.0/4TB>LMS 7.9.3>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.4) -or- rPi4B/pCP6.0/4TB>LMS 7.9.1>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (ethernet, Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>LMS 7.9.3>Squeezelite *The Wild: *rPi3B+/pCP4.0, hifiberry Dac+Pro, 4TB USB (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone11 & iPadAir2 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) *Files:* ripping: dbpa > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112330 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
