The ear bud jack is loose and needs to be repaired. It will cost $50...I
had that done a year ago. Will I be able to use a new squeezebox with no

If you explain "dying" you might get some repair suggestions. It could
be a failing power supply.
Other options:
- Buy a used one off eBay
- Replace it with a Google Home/Nest device and use LMS "Castbridge"
plugin; I think there is an Alexa equivalent, but I'm not familiar with
it
- Replace

I have a software player (Squeezelite) on a headless mini. It needs to
be this instance that is served music from LMS as the playing HW is on
that headless mac.

If you want something to work with LMS look into an Airplay speaker and
use Phillipes plugin

If by manipulate you mean to control it as a player (rather than
changing command line parameters) then from your browser simply choose
the player that you want to control.
Nowadays the popular browser interface is "Material" (find it in the LMS
plugin list).
