Re: [slim] Devices only will connect to wireless from certain modems
What is the make and model of your device? I might suggest something, if I knew the model. Also, mind that squeezeboxes do not use N for wi-fi. So make sure to check your router settings for this. Anyway, there's always an option to add an external router to your modem. While not fantastic sound it might be good enough ... especially as it only needs a cable. I have booted Joggler from a USB stick attached via a powered USB 2 hub and connected a DAC to the same hub and it all worked. However, I might have been lucky. Sounds to me like a perfect application for 'the DAC32' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?113633-DAC32-low-cost-high-performance-music-streamer). alfista's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32396 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113945 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] I think my SliMP3 just died
Hi All, Yesterday, my wife told me about really bad playback on the kitchen system. At first, I assumed it was down to the Joggler that I added a few weeks ago, as that's the newest piece of kit, but that seemed fine and the playback was still awful when using the SliMP3 alone. I switched the SliMP3 with my SqueezeBox2, and that worked fine. So, I've narrowed things down to the SliMP3. There could be a power issue (the SqueezeBox2 adaptor will power the SliMP3, but the SliMP3 adaptor won't power the SqueezeBox2), but it seems to turn on fine with its own adaptor. When I put the SliMP3 what the SqueezeBox2 came from, I can't get any sound out at all. All looks well, but just silence. So, my choices are to either buy a replacement Squeeze device, or buy a DAC for the Joggler. I don't have a very impressive sound system, so a cheap(ish) DAC should do me. If that's my best option, my questions are: - Do any of the cheaper DAC's output to RCA cables, or do I need to get an adaptor to feed the RCA's into a 3.5mm socket? - I boot from USB. If I buy a USB splatter, to enable the use of the DAC, will booting from USB still work? - Will all of this be fine, or is it asking a Joggler to do too much? I don't actually know the answer to this, but I've never seen more than four pages of history. That suggests the limit is around 200 entries. Correct. And that value can be adjusted in the plugin's settings. ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Boom Radio
If you aren't familiar with Planet Pootwaddle https://planetpootwaddle.com/ Now, if you give it a listen, and you think "what the???..." just give it a bit of time. I really like how they put a group of songs together, either of the same artist, or related artists or subjects. There is alot of bizarre stuff mixed in, but I like bizarre :p Here's the stream url (at least the one I am using) http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s90394=aac,ogg,mp3,wmpro,wma,wmvoice=16=ee7d9659b00c40a0b8864b15c897fa63 Jim Redrum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113942 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Boom Radio
hey! I'm a boomer! Will check out your offering chill, thanks... Since you started this thread... I recently stumbled on a set of "classic rock" stations that are actually much better and deeper (songs and versions you don't usually hear) than typical classic rock. They are associated with the St Louis (Mo, USA) Classic Rock preservation society. Check out their website for the stations and current playlist. Pretty diverse https://stlouisclassicrock.com/ There are some "programs" and a few announcements, but in general zero commercials or interruptions. Pretty good quality streams. I have been spinning them a bit, they all have different characteristics (e.g. crestwood is more softer california rock) I went into the page source and extracted the stream urls. You can do that as well, or, if you like I can post them, let me know if interested. I just found it on TuneIn and the track playing had the metadata Deep Purple - Nino Tempo First thought was I have never heard of a Deep Purple track called Nino Tempo. It turned out to be a track called Deep Purple by Nino Tempo [emoji3]. What do they have on their playlist? I hope that isn't representative. No, not some weird mashup of Logitech products, but a 'new radio station' (https://www.boomradiouk.com/) in the UK aimed at the boomer generation. Launched yesterday. Plenty of DJs that boomers will remember from their youth - David Hamilton, Nicky Horne, Graham Dene, Les Ross There's a 128kbps MP3 stream at https://listen-boomradio.sharp-stream.com/65_boom_radio_live_128 chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113942 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
