Works on my SB2.
Is there a way to do this so that I get a fresh Hype playlist every
day, without resorting to scripting?

This little script should do the trick if you run slimserver on
Linux/UNIX. Run daily from your crontab or put in cron.daily.
Change the value of PD to where your playlists are.
#!/bin/sh
# updatehype.sh by blackbear

PD=/mmedia/slim/playlists
SS=localhost
cd $PD
wget -qU Squeezebox

Thanks, smc!
I clearly need to look into plug-ins more before I waste my time
writing stupid little standalone scripts.
I'm happy to say that the script works as intended, though. (Although,
admittedly, error checking and -handling is non-existent.)

Interesting piece of hardware.
Is that cpu really sufficient to do on-the-fly transcoding in order
to
support formats not native to our beloved SB? I once tried
FLAC-to-MP3
transcoding and that ate up about 30% of a 1.2 GHz Athlon cpu
.

, but have an old PC
they want to use for SlimServer, I can highly recommend ClarkConnect
Linux. It has good hardware support, is easy to install, and can be
fully managed through an easy-to-use web-based interface. The Home
Edition of CC is free to download and use, and is all you need.

and a .flac
of the same song. They are both the gold standard.
And, as Nostromo correctly ponted out, .aiff and .wav have inferior or
nonexistent tagging capabilities, unlike FLAC and many others. Perhaps
iTunes hides that from you (I wouldn't know as I don't use iTunes)

some way to set the original Squeezebox remote to output jvd-dvd codes
only.
How?
Thanks all.
Nobody seems to have mentioned that in order for this method to work,
you need a JVC DVD remote. (Or a universal remote outputting JVC DVD
codes)

Anyway, now that Visa, MasterCard and PayPal have all stopped transfers
to allofmp3, I probably will not ever use allofmp3 ever again.

As for the power supply, I replaced my broken Squeezebox3 power supply
with a Vanson SMP-20WM universal supply, and it works quite well and
with no detectable difference in sound quality. (I am using my v3 with
an external DAC)

I only have a humpe Classic as a spare for my Transporter. And I have a
Boom in my bedroom. I really like the old VFD displays, and do not like
the Logitech era models as much, but I'm considering picking up a Touch
and a Radio as backups.

For bedroom use, I would stay away from Radio or any other device with a
display that cannot be completely shut off. It does not take a lot of
light to mess up your melatonin.

The easiest way is probably to simply use a Squeezebox Touch to control
your Transporter.
