[slim] Softsqueeze displays incorrectly using ratpoison window manager

According to the FAQ at http://softsqueeze.sourceforge.net/faq.html the b button is supposed to execute the fwd function. I had assumed that this meant it would do a fast fwd within the currently playing track. However on my set up it just seems to go back to the beginning of the currently

[slim] Mangled Softsqueeze GUI

I have just installed softsqueeze_linux_with_jre_2_8.rpm on my Fedora Core 3 linux box. When I run /opt/softsqueeze/softsqueeze I can play music from my Slimserver but the gui is a bit mangled. If you look at the screenshot here - http://www.oaklands.aust.com/mythtv/softsqueeze.gif - you will see
