Re: [slim] In love with SqueezeLite and LMS. Frustrated at the same time.

2022-12-07 Thread chrissy

Hi,

I do what you want to all the time on different usb dacs, for example
questyle cma400, cma twelve and Steinberg Dac. I alway turn off the dac
and when I turn it on, I'm able to play music. Have you tried the -C 1
option on squeezelite. Maybe there is something special about your dac
or your insralltion of pcp. Generally it works, at least for me. What
type of dac is it? Regarding spotify I have no ideas since I use quobuz.
This works like a charm with the lms-connect app for the
3rd-party-sotware area in this forum.

Re: [slim] Single speaker for kitchen - advice needed

2016-02-28 Thread chrissy

Hi,

Maybe you want to take a look at the Nubert NuPro100. Unfortunately the
nubert.de Website is only available in german. They are small active
speakers with all necessary Inputs (spdif, toslink, USB and analog) and
it is possible to use them stereo or single. I own a paar of nuvero 60
and the are really great.

Re: [slim] Is Bluetooth streaming to Squeezebox possible?

2015-06-01 Thread chrissy

Hi,

as far as I understand, he wants to do both:

1: Stream any Music from Mobile to LMS
2: Stream to Bluetotth Speakers frmo LMS Server

Possible Solutions:

1: Use BubbleUPNP to Stream from Mobile to LMS
2: Install squezzelite and use the however connected Bluetooth Speakers
as output.

Re: [slim] Is Bluetooth streaming to Squeezebox possible?

2015-06-01 Thread chrissy

Hi Castalla,
I have not tried it, but for example on a Cubietruck, where is the
problem? Connect the speakers via bluetooth, ok you have to do it by
hand, but it should be possible. Then connect the output of squeezelite
to the analog output device and it should work, as far as I can think.

I don't quite understand the use of it. If you use a small device like
raspi or cubie, you can put it close to the speakers and you will have a
way better sound using a decent cable.

Ok, you have done it, so I am sure you are right. And I agree
completely, I don't think it's worth either.

Re: [slim] what to use to run squeeze

2015-02-04 Thread chrissy

Hi,
You don't need much cpu power to run LMS. Especially not if you use
flac, since flac is natively supported by all squeezeboxes. If you use
not natively supported file formats, you need cpupower for transcoding
of lms. Also if you play resolutions that are not supported, for example
24/96 on a boom or radio, you need cpu power for resampling. Since I use
only flacs and don't play highres to not natively supported devices, the
cubie is great. I have a larger server with an intel celeron which has
enough power for all the transcoding stuff, but it is not in use as a
squeezserver. On the cubie, a full scan of about 21000 files takes about
1/2 hour. If you want it faster, you need more power.

A NAS is only useful, if you need the diskspace.

Re: [slim] ReadyNAS and FLAC 96kHz

2015-01-27 Thread chrissy

Hi

Usually lms comes with flac already compiled on linux platforms.
Somtimes there maybe a problem with the linkerloader so running flac
from the commandline gives a simple file not found as a response. To
find out if this is the case, ssh onto your readynas cd
towhereverlmsisinstalled/bin and type ./flac.

Re: [slim] Squeezebox 2015 - Is the Squeezebox Universe Expanding of Shrinking?

server systems seem to use DLNA type technology that we all know doesn't
hold a candle to the performance and features of LMS. This, despite many

any reason other manufacturers cannot implement LMS/Squeezebox support
into their own products the way open source applications already do?
Every time I see a new proprietary music server solution (usually at a
high cost) I feel it is always reinventing the wheel and solving
problems that have already been solved by LMS?

Hi,

I guess there is a simple reason: You can't earn money with it. Look at
the SOtM sMS-100 . It is priced as high as 499€ here in Germany and
nothing more than a raspie with pi-coreplayer you can buy for 60€. If
you take a cubie +2 tb Disk, you pay about 200€ and have a complete
server player system with more diskspace than you probably ever need for
music. How should a commercial company compete with prices like this?

I don`t think people will pay that much just for a fancy case and the
installation service.

What we can do to expand is spread it all over!! My Girlfriend now has a
raspie as player, a cubie as server and player and a SB-Radio. She loves
it and has no problems using it. I wrote an article in a german tube
forum and may people got a cubie after this.

So if we all spread the potential of the squeeze universe, we will be on
the expanding side.

Greetings
Chris

[slim] acess flacstream via adress:portnr/?

2011-06-26 Thread chrissy

Hi,

is it possible to acess the native flac stream via a similar adress? I
know it is possible for mp3 streams via server : portnr/stream.mp3, but
this stream is empty when playing different file types like flac without
recoding. I dont want to use recoding, since it is a loss in quality.

Thanks for your answers.

Best regards

Re: [slim] acess flacstream via adress:portnr/?

2011-06-26 Thread chrissy

A friend of mine is trying to write a softwareplayer for the Dreambox
satelite receiver. At the Moment he uses the mp3 stream via url. I am
trying to find a way to make him play flac and other formats too. The
dreambox is a Linux/Enigma2 device and it can play most file formats
out of the box via gstreamer. I am trying to find a way to acess this
native streams from the SB Server.

Best regards
