Can you elaborate on support for DSD128? Is it via Touch or other third
party transport? I m using Touch with EDO plugin to feed my DAC via USB.
My DAC plays DSD64 n DSD128 both via DoP. Touch is limited to 192kHz PCM
so DoP support is limited to DSD64 over 176kHz PCM.

Re: [slim] Now the Squeezebox is dead, what would your next system be? And why?

2012-08-31 Thread travelfotografer

Would a next system be some combination of:

1. Raspberry Pi or similar small footprint computer on the cheap
2. Squeezeplay to support hi-res, gapless and synchronized playback
options
4. USB DAC support
5. HDMI support for display
3. LMS on local server

Just some thoughts...

Re: [slim] Which is more future-proof: SB3 or Touch

Agree. And more future-proof includes Touch's support for hi-res files
and USB DACS (thanks to triode's EDO).

I'm currently testing a Windows squeezeplay build in which I've added
ASIO and WASAPI support in addition to Direct Sound. It also has the

start a new thread for that when it's ready.

Thanks ralphy for your contributions!

A Windows Squeezeplay with all these features, installed on netbook or
nettop with display, can be a worthy replacement for Touch (without the
touch screen) or Duet-Receiver.

I read somewhere that LMS includes the firmware for older players

I suspect so too. I have both my touch and Radio connected to my local
LMS, and I have both Touch and Radio updating their firmwares some time
after I installed new releases of LMS. So it appears that Touch and
Radio get their firmware files from some other server out there.

Is this a ploy to make us buy more squeezeboxes?

2012-08-29 Thread travelfotografer

I became a SB user (Touch and Radio) just over a year ago. The
continuous software updates (until about early this year) made me
suspect nothing like this is in the near future. Now, even Logitech
websites no longer list SB products!

I am very close to buying another Touch and Radio as backup...
