I still need to better understand why the symbol() sub causes problem on chrome and why it happens only a while after these cache files have been erased Do you think we should patch that? It seems to be bothering you enough to be worth it :-). I'd probably just get rid of that symbol all together. It would only be used/shown on ip3k and SqueezeAmp with displays anyways. But most users probably control those players using some kind of software control, rather than IR. I'll see whether I can find some time. So it's something with fontcache.xxx or stringcache.xxx. When I erase them, it's fine for "some time" Oh, I think I know what this could be (though it's surprising nobody would have reported this): on the old displays the plugin tries to display a symbol indicating whether a podcast has been played/partly played/not played. Now if you're controlling such a player there might be some side-effect on the web UI. See line 125 in Slim::Plugin::Podcast::Parser. I ended up clearing in cache/ ./template ./updates all files I kept InstalledPlugins, audioUploads and spotty and it's not happening anymore go figure ...
