I think I need a guide for Someone who is too dumb to even use a dummy
guide.
I bought the parts, loaded the software on the card, plugged into
LAN...and I can't even find the RPie on my network. I'm not sure where
to search in the PiCorePlayer thread for any similar issues.

As far as I am concerned (only worried about 16bit) the only real
downside of HDMI is the fact that you are also outputting video. My
Onkyo AV Receiver will only let you switch off

squeezebox environment in next releases.

just looking for a very simply guide? the ones i find are distributed
all over the place in different wikis. it seems the state of art for
nextgen SB is still quite complicated :-)

I can't whistle a single note of Linux, but I've built two picoplayers,
it is supremely simple,

Probably the hardest part is deciding what to use to output the audio.
The onboard analogue is a no no, HDMI is OK but you really need a
supported USB DAC or an add on DAC card for the Pi.
