Hmmm... thats what i understand: All tracks on your sampler got the same Value in TPE2. That means a Artist like "Air" and "Various Artists" sharing the same Track and therefore the same genres, years and so on. Please ask Michael Herger whats he thinks about that. If someone really doesnt need to think about it cause he already knows it- its him. Re: [slim] Empty albums in virtual library
DJanGo wrote: > if your name for the compilationsgroup is even *Various Artists* then > you should change that... Why? I know that there have been differences on how to tag tracks ever since tags have been invented. I have -always- tagged compilations albums in the way that makes the most sense to me: if you have different (various) artists contributing songs to a compilation, set the compilation tag to 1/true, and the album artist of the entire album (seems only logical) to "Various Artists". LMS knows that and has this setting where you could (if you wanted) localize the album artist name under which compilations are grouped (like "Varios" or "Interprètes divers"...). I don't think I'm gonna change that any time soon for myself. Also, I'm not sure that I noticed that behavior in previous LMS versions (maybe 7.9.1, 7.9 or even 7.8.x). DJanGo wrote: > I know about the 'genre' > (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?104911-Missing-empty-genres) > ;-) I'd say that's a different problem. I have no missing or blank named genres. Only (for example) artists that show in the wrong genre, just because they are part of a compilation where some *other* artist has a track that's in this genre. But after browsing my library a bit more, I can see that this is not limited to virtual libraries. It's also present in the built-in genres menu. So I'm gonna post a message in the beta forum to let the devloppers now about this. Maybe they care, maybe they figure it out, I don't know. We'll see... Anyway, thank you very much for your help. afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109367 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

DJanGo wrote: > Did you check these files for an TPE2 Tag? If TPE2 Tag = album artist tag, then yes, all of my tracks have this one (I use iTunes to manage my tracks). If it's -not- a compilation, then *album artist = artist* - if it's a compilation, then -album artist = Various Artists-. BTW I have noticed something similar if I create a -genre- menu for this virtual library: When I go into some genre entry it will show me artists (names) with no albums in them (empty). Again, false entries where the sublevel has no items. In the *artists* menu it was *artist > (false) album > empty* (virtual library has tracks from this artist, just not from these albums) now in the *genre* menu it's *genre > (false) artist > empty* (virtual library includes this artist but in another genre). I really can't make any sense of this at all. And I'm all out of ideas on where to look or what to try. afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109367 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Empty albums in virtual library
Hey DJanGo: like I said, toggling the setting how the compilations should be grouped doesn't change anything (even after clean LMS reinstall!). It was one of the first things I looked at because it seems like a natural candidate. And it's not just limited to my plugin. I can reproduce this with the advanced search GUI as well: search for all tracks that include AAA in comment tag, save that as a library view, create artist menu for that view with the extended browse mode plugin. Et voilĂ : same empty albums problem that I get with my 'plugin' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?109334-Virtual-Libraries-help-beginner-please=918401=1#post918401). What's buggin me is that I don't have this problem with LMS in my VM. So there must be some difference I'm overlookin (I really hope it's not OS related) afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109367 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Empty albums in virtual library
Hi. When I create a virtual library (view) with an *artists* menu (on the top level), some artists in that menu have - -in addition to the correct albums- - *empty albums* listed (= when you click on them, it says empty). They shouldn't even be listed in this library view because while they do contain tracks by these artists, these tracks do not meet the selection criteria of the library view. These -empty- albums are all compilation albums. Here's what I've tried/found out so far: - It doesn't matter how I create the library view (plugin or advanced search UI). - I've erase every(!) trace of LMS on my server and reinstalled everything from scratch, rescan, redo all the settings... problem is still there (macOS 10.13.6, latest LMS 7.9 build) - in the *Settings > My Music* my settings are: - Browse Artists = use *single*, configurable list - Composer, Conductor, Band/Orchestra *un*checked - List compilation albums *under each artist* (switching this to the alternative settings has no effect regarding the empty album problem) - Treat TPE2 MP3 Tag as *Album Artist* - No error message(s) in the server.log And now here's where it gets interesting/weird: I've installed LMS with a part of my music files in a virtual machine (macOS 10.12.6). I've tried to use the exact same settings. But in the virtual machine there are no empty albums! The problem does not exist there. I'm running out of idea on where to look, which setting etc. Any ideas/suggestions as to what might cause this? (things that I haven't tired yet) Thank you. afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109367 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
