I can give you one data point from personal experience. My DIGI2 Pro works just fine on a Pi2 and a Pi4 running piCorePlayer. (I've never tried it on a Pi3) Until recently: Transporter -> ATC SCM100A, now sold :-( House move forced change to: piCorePlayer(RPi2/HiFiBerry DIGI2 Pro) -> Meridian

Pretty sure piCorePlayer is compatible with all of the HiFiBerry DAC/DIGI HATs. There was a thread here regarding some issues with the newest, expensive board, though. Search if that's the one in which you're interested.
