Re: [slim] Is there a way to remotely access and listen to audio?
I have used VPN to remotely access my LMS in the past, but nowadays I just have a portable server with a copy of my library on a 2Tb drive. I find it much easier. Is this the best way forwards? Once I have my PiCorePlay at the remote location how would I make it connect to the VPN server back at on my home network? 1uke_'s Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66412 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111896 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Hi Paul, PiCorePlayer is my client device not my server, from your reply I am not sure where I should be running OpenVPN. Hope you drop back by and clarify as I think OpenVPN would be a possible solution, I just need to mentally map out in my brain what steps I need to take and it would be great to talk it through with you so I can unpick those steps :) 1uke_'s Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66412 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111896 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Is there a way to remotely access and listen to audio?
Your safest route (since you would be opening up your home network to internet access) would probably be to run OpenVPN server on your pCP server and then forward a port to it from your LAN router. Then run OpenVPN client on your various player systems. [slim] Is there a way to remotely access and listen to audio?
I'm not sure if what I am about to ask will make any sense but please do your best not to think I have gone crazy! INTRODUCTION I am aware that software like 'airsonic' (https://airsonic.github.io/) will allow you to remotely access and stream audio whereever you have a connection to the internet. MY QUESTION I was wondering is it possible to access the logitech media server remotely and have access to my music whilst I am away from home? FURTHER THOUGHTS AND IDEAS - THAT MIGHT HELP I am trying to figure out how this might work, my PiCorePlayer would need to remotely connect to my home sever as would my phone which I use to control LMS. 1uke_'s Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66412 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111896 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
