IIRC Picore runs everything out of RAM and as I understand no swap to disk so too many applications running at same time and you may run out of memory whereas Raspbian and Max2play can swap to disk. bpa's Profile:

This is why I would start with raspbian, add squeezelite, manage it as per raspbian, and add software as I pleased, the raspbian way. That will include lots of features out the box that you don't need, and will work just fine as a media renderer. IMHO it's probably harder to start with PCP and

piCore is only 20 or 30MB. I think Raspbian is now over 4GB. That's a huge difference, a lot of stuff has been stripped out. piCore is as small as possible and you only add what you need. That's why it takes < 10 seconds to burn an image to a SD card. Raspbian is so big because it trying to be

I would say one Pi3 is more than capable of doing more than one job at a time. LMS is not demanding, even with lame mp3 encoding. I have a Pi3 that's more than capable of running full speed arcade machine emulation at the same time as "motion" security camera type stuff at the same time as

Hi still newbie talking here I have received my PI3 and soon will mont it into that LMS and squeezelite player.. I am wondering if something else can run on that PI3 at the same time like I would love to have a camera for home invasion type of thing, I have seen plenty of tuto around here. Can
