Hi
I have Win XP SP3 on Asus P5K-E/WIFI-AP m/board with Intel E8400 4 GB
DDR 800.
Yesterday I used Windows Update (as usual) to download latest updates -
both critical optional).
Since then I can get no internet whatsoever ! All browsers just give
non-connected screens.
The WiFi network

First thing I'd try would be a System Restore to a Restore point

Thanks

PC).
Maybe I should try uninstalling those updates ?
I have an imaged partition which I can
Tried the Repair Connection option? Just right click the little
computer terminal in your System Tray (lower right). Router reboot?

Had this years ago where a Windows Update caused an issue with my AVG
antivirus. Similar issue where the PC couldn't see the internet.
You may want to try removing AV/Firewall software and see if it
helps

Yes, tried repair (see original post). No joy. Also router reboot. One

Yes, try wired connection first to make sure it's not the router. Do you
have other devices that work fine through the router?
Other things to try:
- reboot into safe mode and see whether wifi works there
- try to download and install a wifi driver from your manufacturer.

Prpoertirs of the wi-fi adapter especially tcpip ipV4 or what was it's

A cmd window and use ipconfig /all to what's up . Do you have an IP at
all if not try ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew ?
My syntax may be a bit off have no win machine near me at the moment .
Possibly gateway ip address has not been set up.
Run ipconfig in a command prompt window and look at interface subnet
mask and gateway address and see if they are sensible.
If unsure how to read it - copy the output to a file (e.g. ipconfig
output.txt ) and attach it to a post
Try to ping your router with cmd window .
But ipconfig should tell you basics such that if have a DNS etc .

I had a issue once with a XP machine that I tried everything on and no
matter what I did I could not get the network to connect. In doing some
searching I found a utility that does a full reset of the Winsock
registry settings and it fixed the problem. I did have to set up the
network again, but
