I concur with the suggestion to buy a headphone amp from Headroom. I
have their Total Bithead portable amp, and connected to my SB3, it
sounds fabulous. Way better than the headphone jacks on the SB3, and
way better than even the headphone output on my Yamaha receiver.

Buy a headphone amp. HeadRoom's Micro Amp is $300, and enormously
better than the headphone out on the DAC-1.
