Nikos,
I'm referring to wood floor and walls. The server is on the
main floor and the SB2 is in the basement.about 15m
distance.Concrete will likely be more difficult. These SMC's
are actually directional, not omni as I said earlier. The
model is SMCHMANT-6..they are like a square disc shape,
@Mark
You're right. One of life's mysteries.
Nah this is pure science.. :) The question is what scentific ground
this behaviour is based on. Maybe Shawn can share some thoughts on this
, regarding how the SB uses the signal received on its antennas and how
it prioritizes its results..
No but

Hm, an 85-90 seems pretty impressive to me considering the location you
mention. Are we talking about brick walls in between or just wood
separation (sorry dont know the exact word)
Could you plz tell me the model numbers of these SMCs antennas? Cost?
Are you
Hmm..another happy victim ;)
Thanks for your feedback Mark.
Yes I know that the is a sec internal antenna but my question is why
would this internal get a better signal..makes *no* sense..
Also does anyone know whether the SB2 deploys diversity antennas?
Nikos
PS:Mark do you have a wireless

PS:Mark do you have a wireless SB1 that you can use its antenna on the
SB2 to see if the signal is even

No but I do accept donations. ;-)
'Course the practical question would be, how does one of those
super-duper high-gain 3rd party antennas work on the SB1/SB2? They
work wonders on routers, much better than increasing
Hi Khuli,
yes the location does not affect the different behaviour between the
two antennas. The old one gets always a better signal than the new
one..
Do you have a similar setup that you can test? (SB1 wireless..SB2
wirless..switch antennas)
Does anyone who has the above setup care to make a

Also can someone test whether a wireless SB2 performs as good or maybe
even better in distant locations (away from the AP in another room)
when the external antenna is disconnected?
I can verify my SB2 signal strength increases when I disconnect the
antenna.
It's in the next
Come on, doesn t anybody have an idea of why such behaviour should
occur??
I mean we are talking about 10% better signal (comparing the two
scenarios, not a 10% absolute increase). I'm sure this should be
interesting enough for everybdy using wireless.

That IS interesting... if move the SB to a different locatation do you
still get the same effect?

i just checked and my cue sheets are NOT embedded in flac - they are
standalone. in 6.2,6.2.1,and 6.5b1, for most folders i see
Browse Music--Browse Music Folders--Madonna--Ray of Light--
Madonna-Ray of Light.cue (1/2)--song1, etc..
Madonna-Ray of Light.flac (2/2)--Title: Ray of Light
which is
Mine don't do that. Do your CUE sheets reference the FLAC files, or the
original WAVs from which the FLACs were created? I forgot to update my
first CUEs after compressing, and I believe it caused a very similar
problem.
