In -my- case SBS runs on Windows Home Server. I had the same issue but
a restart of SBS solved it - maybe not forever, but for the moment.

Hey folks, got a Squeezebox 3 that's been working without problems. I
just noticed that when it's in the off state, there's no date/time
display, like it used to have.
I have another SB3 hooked up elsewhere, that is displaying date/time.
Not sure if this is related to 7.6.1 update. Went through
Check the Brightness settings, eg, cycle through the four levels of
brightness using the IR remote when the SB3 is in off state.

Hmm... this is getting worse every day?...
Yeah, probably that bug that Michael noted. I had forgotten about it
because it hasn't been plaguing my SBs, and until the bug appeared, the
Brightness button was the standard solution.
